When I dropped the cancelled video 2 years ago, they tried to take legal action against me and my channel. I received no email asking how they could help etc. An almost identical message was posted to their Instagram. Yet... a month later they changed their packaging to reflect my concerns without credit or acknowledgement. I knew from that point they did not care about me or the Black Community at all

That’s so crazy. I don’t wanna say “I wish they would” because I truly just wanna be done with them 🙄 ... but all I will say is they’ve shown us who they are at this point MULTIPLE times on BOTH sides of the spectrum (from consumers to employees) and I BELIEVE what I see. I waited so long to drop this video (literally 6 months) because I wanted to make sure I came with receipts and also wasn’t speaking from emotion. As influencers we have every right to give out opinion on the things that these brands so plainly put out there. And my opinion is “I DONT F*CK W/ YOU” lol Instead of threatening influencers.. they need to maybe start LISTENING and taking responsibility. Smh

Eco is dead to me and has been for months. I’ve thrown away everything and don’t even miss it. Plus that olive oil gel dried my hair out over time. Eco loves the black aesthetic and black dollars but IMO, they do not value our lives. And for that reason, I too, will never touch that trash again.

Ive never used ECO but bought a jar when I started watching Faye in The City. When she announced the same reason I immediately threw the unopen jar in trash. $4 didnt break me. what really saddens me about this whole situation is WE AS A PEOPLE, HAVE THE POWER TO shut down not only ECO company but many other hair and clothing companies. We're not at that level yet. We Are Still Eating Graham Krackers then taking a NAP.

Major brands know that they don't have to do much of anything, to keep their customers. Black consumers need to stop putting brands before self-respect. I'm pretty sure that Black people keep Eco-Styler in business, and Eco-Styler knows there will always be Black cheerleaders for their products. @@nkyahjen5625 I really like Aunt Jackie's ice curls - honestly all Aunt Jackie's gels/products that I've tried, I've liked. I have type 4 hair, so I do need hold, but I don't like crunch. I've found using that gel light handed over top of a leave-in, I get definition with a low amount of gel cast. I do have to redo my wash and go's often, but I don't mind a good co-wash mid week.

Hey yall try Ecoslay which is small batched and black owned. It is heavy like wetline. Must keep in fridge but great for type 4 hair...there is a crunch might be more than wetline so need a leave in...but awesome Gel and a replacement for Ecostyler 10 hold gels. It is called Jello Shot.

I remember when you transitioned from eco styler gel to wetline. There were some eyebrow raising moments with eco back then that contributed to my decision to NEVER spend my money with them again. Ive been using wetline ever since. However, at this point it’s going to take more effort to do this but I am intentional with how I spend my money. We have to stop being so forgiving and quit supporting brands that wont acknowledge and respect us.

But I whole-heartedly understand your stance on product recommendations and “replacements” moving forward. At this point its really hard to gauge whats worth supporting and vice versa. You made a huge point that I think a lot of ppl will miss when you were discussing how “we/ some of us” expect this “magial” product to change our hair or to manipulate it to mimick something else. It really isnt about the product itself, its the technique. I never had super big issues with my hair because Ive been doing hair since I was a teenager and amasted quite a bit of hair knowledge. There are ppl on social media platforms denouncing products or “diying” for destroying our natural hair, when in reality its the person and their method/ technique thats actually doing the damage ..but thats another topic. I only made that reference to show an example of why you shouldnt rely on a product or diy recipie to fix, change or manipulate your hair into perfection.

I'll say some names. I didn't like that that The Mane Choice came out with an "Amazon" line. I didn't like that Mielle 🤨 came out with rose line when rose water was a thing. All these lines do it. I haven’t used eco styler gel in years because it s absolutely crap and did nothing but make my hair dry, cause product buildup, and turn white and flake. However, I had no idea about this. It’s not surprising to me though. I’m glad I came across your video cuz I’m definitely gonna pass this info around. The black dollar is WAY to powerful to be putting it into company’s, brands, and communities that profit off of and want nothing but our downfall. I never really liked ecostyler gel. It dried out my hair the 2 times I used it and the ingredients weren’t the best so I just stuck to using products from brands with better ingredients. So glad I did. Thank you for sounding the alarm Amber!

Be careful with it. It stripped my hair and damaged it. After a few uses your hair isn't used to it but over time it will damage your hair similar to what Deva Curl did.

Years ago I had ecostyler in my stash, but it never worked for my hair or edges. So I never got into a love affair with the brand. If in need of a gel, I would go to Aunt Jackie's or just DIY as I have done for many years now. Please continue to educate and inform the family as you do and most of all just continue to be you. Oh my God!! I love Aunt Jackie's. The grapeseed ice curls shine gel slicks my hair nicely and leaves a nice shine. No flakes and no crunch. I buy mines from family dollar or my local beauty supply...

@@bdheidelberg75 I'm currently in the testing phase of trying their products. I believe they are a black owned company (woot woot!) I noticed the ingredients are better quality than my usual products. I care a lot about what gel I used, so I'm trying all three of their gels. So far I did the Don't Shrink one and didn't like the hold but Curl Boss and Ice Curls seem like a winner! Their curl LA LA curl cream smells and feels great and has a lot of slip! I have a mix of high porosity in the front and on my ends and low porosity around my crown and roots. I have medium density hair as well. I like to say my curl pattern is a 3c/4a but not really sure. I notice ingredients like Glycerin and cetyl alcohol are my best friends. You can check out pics of my hair on instragam @amyaimsjay My hair feels much softer with this line as well! 😌😊

I appreciate this video so much! I've only been using Eco again for a year (had a specific hairstyle last minute) and even while I have it, I'm not taken aback by anything "amazing" it's doing for me. Just kinda hangs out here for occasional use and when I put it in I always felt like there is something better out there. I'm so glad I found this video before I bought a refill.
