This is a long video, but wanted to give you an idea of a full stump grind from beginning to end, and some of the thought process behind stump grinding.

Sir, I have quite a few pine tree stumps to remove. They vary in size and must go prior to erecting a metal garage. I enjoyed and learned from your demonstration of the SC252 stump grinder in action. I intend to rent the same grinder from a local equipmet center to eliminate my tree stumps. I'm assuming the length of your video is an approximate time period required to remove a 24" stump with roots, therefore, I'm thinking I may need to rent a grinder for 2 days to complete my mission. The metal garage folks recommended I grind down all stumps 8 inches below the surface then lay a firm aggregate base as a solid foundation prior to having a concrete slab poured. So, your video gave me a good idea as to how much time required to grind pine tree stumps. I'm in NC and have similar trees and soil conditions. I viewed your video several times in its entirity to get an idea of how it's done and how long it takes to grind a stump. Have a fine week. Thanks for the video. 👍🏽🤠 9/2/23

Cute machine I use to have one like that many many years ago . That looks just like a property in South Carolina that I knocked on the door and asked to do their stumps and he also had a grinder like that too. I also quoted to cut trees too. Hummm I wonder…

Maybe so! Yea it is probably best for tight spots or areas where you want as little damage as possible to the grass

That looks like nice soil underneath the stump. How do you grind when there’s cobble/rocks below the stump.

As you're going you can see what's going on. I usually pull some of the shavings back into the hole to prevent that

Since the roots are right onthe surface, could you just move about 2' back from the end of the root, bring the blade down to chop it off, then lift it out of the ground?
@MyLooneyBin

Good question there is a center root that runs pretty deep
@martybeckman5178
@martybeckman5178 Жыл бұрын
yes and sometimes when you do that the root will come more to the top of the ground and then doing it again til it remains under the ground i call it chasing roots cut one and another one pops up out of the ground LOL and I still love grinding stumps

How do you price your stumps I’m new to the business buying a grinder tomorrow

Best thing to do is call around I. The area and see what others are charging. But you can also decide how long it takes to grind a stump, and then come up with a value based on that time. (throw in a little extra to cover has and new cutting teeth)

Perhaps I am mistaken, but the teeth seem dull in this video. It seems the machine is not cutting, more beating the stump up.

What's the average grinding time per stump of that size?
@MyLooneyBin
@MyLooneyBin 3 жыл бұрын
30 minutes once you get used to the controls. Good blades help as well.

depends how deep and how big that stump is I have spent 2 hours on one 80 inch stump with getting shaving out of the way that are going under the machine
@martybeckman5178

also Pine Trees are soft wood and if it was a oak or other hard wood it takes longer but i am not forcing the machine to be hard on it so some seems to cut better and faster I been in this business now for about 5 years and i love it some stumps just take longer the least time i spent on a 23 inch stump was 30 /40 minutes and the whole job was done cleaned up and got paid and left
