I have a few questions about the legal side as artists in Japan... If anyone knows, please help me! 1. What permits/licenses do you need in order to sell in Japan? Also do you need a license in your home country if you are not a Japanese citizen? 2. What kind of visa do you apply for? I heard it's incredibly hard to get a freelance visa. 3. What is the business tax situation like? As a US citizen, I'd have to do both Japanese and US taxes. 😵 I live in Japan, but because I'm not Japanese, I find it extremely hard to find out this information. Because it's such a niche area...

You’re so inspiring! Thank you for sharing your experiences especially about being burnt out. I always feel so guilty when I have those days when I just lay in bed but I’ve come to terms with it and actually know I need those days to recoup and it signals myself I’m taking on too much. Great video~^^

I've been feeling rather low today but listening to this video brought me so much comfort and peace of mind. I've been struggling with how to approach art as a career because like your family, art isn't considered an option. However, listening to your advice about taking my art journey slowly and as a hobby first helped with some of the anxiety. Thank you so much for sharing your journey and I wish you lots of success!!
How are you able to stay in Japan as a freelancer? What is your visa situation? Thank you for making this it was really nice :)

Omg, I didn't realize you were Thai even though I've been following your channel and instagram for so long! It's super nice to see another Thai creative/designer/illustrator on the internet. I also grew up in a family where art was out of the question and I was able to become a full-time designer. It's really inspirational to see! I feel like there isn't a lot of us out here on the internet.

I can relate on the calling in sick part! Some days I really feel so down & I don’t want to turn up for work so I call in sick. I feel bad for doing that, but I feel even worse if I can’t show up properly at work😔

Omg. I'm an architecture graduate as well. Started an art shop after graduating and quitting job 🤣 glad to know someone is successful after such a risk. I'm currently just trying to get my license but after that i'm sure i'll be reopening soon :)

Wow I have so many similarities with you, I also quit my job from burn out and moved overseas (to Colombia) from Australia and I've been here for 4 and a half years. I also used to call in sick but then just lay in bed. I was always so incredibly exhausted even if I'd had a full nights sleep. I also can't speak the language here (Spanish) as much as I'd like, but I can understand a lot and do okay speaking to family and friends, but yeah I definitely can improve especially where grammar is concerned - verb conjugations are so hard 😭. Wow, it was so nice to hear more about your story, thanks so much for sharing. 😊

I wonder how is day to day life in Japan without knowing the language. I moved to France two years ago and the first year was very hard because people are not welcoming at all here and I felt like they despised me all the time... Loved the video, thank you :)

how did you "just" move to Japan? I'm trying to move out of the U.S. but it seems so difficult to move to Asian countries and even more difficult to find work without being an English teacher so visas seem difficult to get
Could I ask how you managed to move to Japan as a freelancer? I have been doing research about it lately and it seems like the only way to get a non-holiday visa is either through a Japanese spouse or being sponsored by a Japanese company :/
