Thanks for taking us along on your beautiful trek today. Those beautiful orange flowers you filmed..? Jewelweed...they have fantastic medicinal properties. I collected them yesterday to make a salve for poison ivy and other uses. My field is aquatics, specifically lotic (moving) water and temperate/hardwood forests. Appalachia has a vast amount of edible/medicinal plants, one of the reasons I live here and teach classes locally. Loved your trek today, while enjoying it with you and your mom I was assessing the health of the creek and scanning the plants lol Again, thanks for bringing us along Much ❤ to you and your mom.

@@anneleahy9010 NZ has several types of impatiens, same family as Jewelweed, and although they look different they share many of the same medicinal values.

@@LandRoamers the stream didn't look too bad, there was actually fresh water clams in there so better than many I have seen, and cleaned, over the years. There were several plants along your walk that are 'useful', the walnuts of course, the pinkweed, Jewelweed and several others. Honestly, pretty much ever plant you encountered... Lol...sorry I can get teachy at times. I do enjoy your content and look forward to the next.

Oh, btw...the Jewelweed has these elongated little pods on them, when you touch them they shoot out seed. Masters of reproduction lol

Do you ever eat meatloaf sandwiches with your leftovers? That's what I'm making tomorrow. I love it , a thick slice of cold meatloaf on my keto bread toasted, with mayonnaise, and a slice of mater 😋. I can tell you've lost weight. Congratulations! I have Hypothyroidism now, so mine is slow going if I eat any carbs or sugar. I'm more your mama's age and I was raised in Cleveland til I was about 8. Growing up , in the summer on the day after we had meatloaf for supper , mama would fix us a slice of cold meatloaf on loaf bread with mayonnaise and 🧂 and pepper. It was so good 😉.
