The flies are outrageous. Disney needs get real and have enclosed, air conditioned spaces for food service to keep the flies out. Flies on food and flies laying dead next to it as seen on this video is awful. Even worse the pathogens they carry. They need to control the breeding sites, too. Great video. Thanks.

There are metal mesh basket-like covers in frames which have been used for decades in the American South to keep flies off. I’ve noticed in other tropical places that the native people seem used to flies - after generations of not being able to do anything about them. But the tourists are North American and Northern Europeans, and will never accept this! I’m sure that Disney will heed suggestions made during this first opening of the resort. They will have the problem resolved quickly.

Idk if anyone knows this but I just got off the Fantasy’s Lighthouse Point Inaugural cruise today, and we went to LP twice. On the first day the flies were just like in the video. However, when we returned, poof! They were gone. I only saw one fly the entire day. Maybe it was just whether we ate at Too or the other one, or maybe there were less people due to it being the second day. But honestly, we think that Disney poisoned all the flies or something and got rid of them.

I’m the one from the “ADA cabana.” Some back story here might be important, I’m in my 30s and have incurable life threatening illnesses. My full time job is to stay alive and battle these illnesses. Every day I’m taking over 40 pills and doing IV medications. Very real chance I won’t live to see 40. Being among the first to go to the beach and swim at Lighthouse Point became an item on my bucket list. We confirmed over a month prior to sailing they would have beach wheelchairs on the island. They obviously did not. So I never got on the beach or in the water and got to watch everyone else do what I’ve spent over a year dreaming of that day. Disney is now having a different story about said beach wheelchairs and not being helpful at all. We used to sail Disney because they used to be so good at accommodating guests with disabilities and I have a large number of severe food allergies. They care more about their “influencers” than about a guest fighting for their life. They don’t want to make it right and they’ve been awful to deal with. This was our 23rd Disney Cruise and we can’t believe the way this situation has been handled. Truly disgusted. Ben and David it was lovely meeting you two! Thank you for sharing about these accessibility and disability problems.

Always take an umbrella for shade on walks along with sunscreen coverage. The fly problems are easily resolved with screen or solid covers, and the whirly machines or fans to keep them at bay. Anyone who has ever eaten outdoors in hotter temps knows you have to keep the flies off the food. That is disgusting. Also, they should advise cruisers to take water bottles full off the ship, and refill them often to stay hydrated. Put misting machines along the along the path to cool off walkers. None of this is difficult to do.

My husband and I spent a relaxing week on Eleuthera several years ago, so BEAUTIFUL, authentic and lovely residents, just wonderful! Hired a private tour guide one day, got on the ONE road running north and south, went to the blue hole, Gregory Town, to a pineapple farm, too much fun! I understood prices have skyrocketed since then - but what a perfect time! And the beaches around the island look just like the ones shown...

Thank you so much, Ben and David! You never disappoint! I think “Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point” (😂😂😂) is beautifully designed! Can’t wait for those new plantings to grow - Ben, you’re right, the walkways will be shaded, with spectacular views. The inclusion of Bahamanian culture, availability of the work of local artists, and the employment of the those folks whose island this really is, make this a port I would really enjoy. Thank you for describing all the features and giving us the prices.

Thanks for a thorough review of the Lookout point. You guys do such a great job at filling us all in on the new things in cruising. I agree that Disney needs to fix some things - the long walk with no shade, the flies, etc. Once the plants/trees grow, the area will be more filled in and shadier. It would have been great to see a pool area. The beach is gorgeous but some people want to be in a pool. They may change some things after watching all the reviews and reading the comments. Thanks for all you do!!

Okay... I'm only half way through, but...yeah, i think I'd have to book a Disney cruise that doesn't stop there. The water is gorgeous, but i wouldn't be able to make that walk. The flies on the food is just disgusting, and I'm not one that gets grossed out too easily. I really like the idea of the cultural center. I also wonder... that's a lot of walkway, fencing, roofing etc for an island VERY prone to hurricanes. Hope they make out okay.
@marias902
@marias902 16 күн бұрын
I live in coastal SC. After hurricanes, many new plants and palm trees (shallow roots) get totally wiped out. That happened here a couple months before a huge PGA tournament. I’m surprised that Disney didn’t open this in mid winter to give the plants more time to take hold before the bad hurricane season that’s predicted. Fingers crossed that the area doesn’t get any direct hits.

Heys guys. Prepared this video quickly. That walk folks are saying is like 1/2 a mile and gotta be on a list for the shuttle. I’d need the tram or shuttle from the ship. 12-15 minutes walk for you is probably an hour for me 🤦‍♀️. Notice this walkway has railings. Gorgeous water indeed. The loungers in the cabana/villas look thick indeed. Beautiful souvenir shops. 🚲 rentals. Look at the art and Disney woven bags. Arts and crafts too. Oh no. I could never eat that chicken. There was a dead fly l. Some other creators reported the same. The beach 🏖️ is lovely. Nice there is an adult area only as well. The kids waterpark look fun. Well this is the preview cruise so with their amazing customer service; I’m sure they take opinions and suggestions into consideration. Thanks for sharing 🤗

Such a weird pier design…a crazy long walk just to get on a tram at the end….since Disney designed the pier it would have made much more sense to just make it a little wider and have the trams come on the pier…it’s clear it can handle trucks because they drive many on it so why not the tram…
@Cruisewith
@Cruisewith 16 күн бұрын
It’s to protect the reefs - but yes would have been much better to be a little wider!
@ljviks22
@ljviks22 16 күн бұрын
@@Cruisewith you don’t need a larger footprint to make the top surface wider. We have piers here in California that have a smaller footprint in the water that are 3x as wide….And just this weekend one had over 100 cars on one of them for a car show so they can easily handle the weight. I can understand not wanting gas powered trans on it for environmental reasons but they can make EV trans in 2024…especially with Disney money. Just seems like the pier logistics where a afterthought and its not the number 1 things mentioned on every video about it. Sure people should be in shape to be able to walk in but they have a tram going right up to it already so it should have just been planned to go on the pier.
