Nice to see the continued upgrades to the ship. Dad's ship along with the Missouri and Des Moines in the early-mid 50's. Sailed along her while rafted up against the Forrestal in Naval Station Newport.

Iowa was across the Mississippi River from my house for long time when they took a gun turoit off and put missle launcher on her. AVONDALE SHIP YARD LA. NOW CLOSED. What happened to that.

Japan''s Yamato had bigger guns, but the Iowas were technologically more advanced and likely would have prevailed in a one-on-one.
