I wish I could post an image, you fantastic carpo-tunnel master! Even with two fine arms, clamping the cushions was a good move. I am a house-breaker in Japan and broke a house up, on the second floor was an early series Valley, 9E 2092. I had to look it up! 1980? over 22,000 games on the game-counter, it looked like it has not been functioning for a while. I resurrected it, all but the missing coin mechanism. I lifted the table off with a strap and a wench, and cleaned and repaired all the ball return trays. I found a million chalks, a full set of balls, two que balls and $29.50 in US quarters! After that, I urethan sealed the interior of the case. I ordered new cloth, cushions and MOST IMPORTANT! I watch your fine instructions and followed them to the letter. Seriously, I wish I could shake your hand, big guy. But I suspect I am catching carpo myself! ;-)

@@therealkingcobra I should have washed the slate more. When the moisture from wetting the cloth dried, some faint stains came up. Probably beer spills or (if it was a table I played on in my youth) worse. Blood or guts. My wife saw it and thinking she would help, scrubbed at it some. Kinda roughed the cloth a little. Nothing serious, and I couldn't say a thing because she really did intend the best. I am wondering if there is a way people remove stains? And now, lay the roughed-up cloth back down? Iron it, maybe? Don't get me wrong, the table plays so much better and the rough is not influencing the speed of the table. It is really fast, now. But, as the man who has seen it all? Any advice for me?

@@therealkingcobra thanks a ton, going to go at it this weekend. Got the new ridgebacks and 860. For side pockets, are you using half of the measurements for anchor side and stretch side? For instance, half of 13/16 and half of 5/8. Valley bar box btw
@joshuacrites4821 Жыл бұрын
From looking and playing over and over it looks like half of 13/16 on anchor side and half of 5/8 on stretch to side. That was the area I was confused. I learned a ton on this video.
@Jeremywilson3222 Жыл бұрын
Just finished mine, with simonis 860. It was hard to get the lines marked correctly on side pockets because my side pockets didn't have a good definitive edge to them. It is a tough stretch for sure being a smaller guy. Wish I had those clamps shown in the video. It looks and plays great though! With new pro cut rails it Came out tight

Just to make sure I heard correctly. Side pocket measurements are half of 13/16 for first side. Then half of 5/8 for the streatch to side.

Great video. We got a Dynamo at the local Legion that the cushion arent flush with the top of the rails. What exactly would cause that? Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
@therealkingcobra Жыл бұрын
Because the slate depth isn't set right.
@matthewmcallister8845 Жыл бұрын
So the slate should have been shimmed up like you showed in this video? How does this effect the rail bolts is the some adjustment available there ? I assume there is some as the cushions are currently tight but too low. I know moving just the cushions up is not the answer as that would mess with the nose height. Thanks
@therealkingcobra Жыл бұрын
Nose height is based on the cushions sitting all the way down on the slate when they're bolted on. If there's a gap, the nose height is to high.
@a15_ Жыл бұрын
What is the cushion nose height recommended for this table?
@therealkingcobra Жыл бұрын
1 7/16” is the nose height on a valley table.

That depends on which cloth is being installed. That's why there's a test to determine what the stretch index is.

You would not believe the mess a "Pro" table mech made of my 8' table. A side rail cloth was cut too short so there was a mess of staples there trying to fix that. But worst, he had to remove beeswax to remove slate bolts, yet he failed to refill those same holes with wax after he bolted the slate back down. I suppose the table's design was lacking, maybe, but I recovered it myself once before and did a damn sight better than this 'pro'. Of course he promised to return to fix the table - it's been six years and I quit waiting for his call within a week after he left me with this mess. I finally sort of lost interest in my own table because I didn't want to recover it myself again, and I didn't trust any so-called mechanics.

@therealkingcobra Жыл бұрын
Stapling is a joke, and a waste of time always having to remove the old staples, not to mention the fact that the staples don't provide a 100% hold down of the rail cloth, like spray glue does, staples only hold where they're placed, and you can always see where they're at by the loose cloth between staples on the tops of the rails. And yea, I've recovered way more bar tables than you have, been doing this work since 1983, commercial tables exclusively.
