This the best sounding engine for me. The IAE V2500 has the unique buzzsaw whine after spool up, you feel the power, literally. Its like when you hear it, as if it's tellin ya that "I gotchu bro" I'll get you to the skies.

over the wing, you can hear the buzzsaw but behind the wing, you can only hear rumbling and a bit of propeller like sound

You can hear the buzzsaw from over the wings, but its very faint and more of a hum. Its most clear from the side of the engine to the front

You cant hear no propeller sounds behind any engine, you just hear the jet blast and a machine sound in some cases if its an old engine model

@@iaexo Nah they used a lower thrust setting on this takeoff since it was light. It's a short runway but not that short, 747s takeoff on it all the time

@RyanZ225_PC Ah cool - in my experience it's definitely the most performance limited takeoff at Melbourne not taking winds into account (except of course for 09). Even an E intersection for 16 or J for 34 give more than 600m to run

Why does listening to that buzzsaw give me a headache? It's because supersonic air isn't good for engines to ingest... you guys must have been pinned to your seats and must've felt some crazy acceleration if the fan was spinning that fast.

Hahaha yeah I certainly felt that! For me personally, its an amazing feeling and listening to the buzzsaw on takeoff brings me so much joy, and that wasn’t even close to a true, full power takeoff. I guess these engines were designed to withstand all these sonic sonic noises during high thrust

@@RyanZ225_PC Though they can withstand when the fan blades exceed the speed of sound, it puts tremendous stress on the fan and greatly reduces its efficiency. During cruise, air intakes actually slow the air air down through the ram effect so the fan doesn't have to spin as fast to suck in more air. This was crucial for supersonic planes because the air needed to slow down to subsonic speeds before entering the engine.
