I am 73 and have been listening to Jazz most of my life, and I am hard-pressed to see a separation Japanese Jazz from other Jazz If it's good Jazz, it is Jazz and what I have been listening to here is very good Jazz period.

I keep getting surprised when I discover jazz in different parts of the world. It shouldn't blow my mind that there is Japanese jazz, but it does! It is so good! Hard to believe this is from the 70s. I would be more than happy to watch these cats in a club today. Thank you for exposing me to this.

I saw this on my feed and knew it’d be a gem. One of my favorite albums is Joe Henderson in Japan back in 70s recorded a gig with a Japanese band and rhythm wise one of the best live performances. Knew this would be in the neighborhood of brilliance.

One of my favorite things about hip hop is how (most of it at least) is just a great big love letter to jazz and soul music that came before it. It's a celebration of the artists that came before, and it's a gateway drug to a TON of different genres.
