I was a drummer, bassist, guitarist, singer etc. and kind of felt the same way. I eventually ended up working in the music biz as an audio engineer and got to work with DJs, pop artists, and everthing you can think of. Some of the DJs and EDM producers I've worked with are some of the most natural and gifted musicians I've ever seen and really changed my perspective on their craft. Their art form is just different than us "instrument" players.

Judging by your name, and your message, you are a french native speaker, but wanted to precise something for other people. Apéro, is more than taking shorts drinks now. It defines the moment before having lunch/dinner. Originally "apéritif" means only the shorts drinks that "sometimes" is followed by finger foods. Now, Apéritif, that we say "apéro" (more familiar), just means the moment, which people can take whatever drinks he want(even soft drinks), and/or finger foods. (even water + finger foods ). The "apéro" can be taken also only by itself without as spanish takes sometimes tapas.
