My father was a millwright on the railways here in South Africa, I never took any interest in what he did in his spare time in his garage workshop. He died when I was 21 before I discovered the science, beauty and art of machining. I'm 38 now and I love it, this channel pretty much is a substitute for my dad, I only wish I'd opened my eyes and ears, and shut my mouth so that I coulda learnt more in person when I had the chance. Thanks Howee

Ford king pins are the reason I bought my first adjustable reamer. The hardest part of the alignment of the 3/4 ton, was the bending of the heavy duty beams.

Our Atlas Foundry guy would bring in a napkin with broken chain dimensions, and food. Hand it over, then watch and wait. Ever have a customer like that?

@45:43 I am using perforated rubber mat. Good for feet and most of the times protects parts and tooling from damage when they fall on the floor. Only one minor problem are small chips that fill holes. So I occasionally have to clean under the mat.

Old Ford farm trucks all stop taking grease ( or the farmer stopped greasing ) so we tried to fix king pins while still on the truck. No fun at all. Sorry to hear about your heatwave. Burt needs those steel toe flip-flops for your 80 degree days.

Done a few of these. Same process as you have done. The worst part of my job might be reaming.

Would you be willing to answer a question? I have a situation that I'd like a professional opinion.

John says he's happy to hear what you've got going on. The best bet right now is probably email - if you go to the channel page and hit the "more" button you can pull up the shop email address (I don't want to plaster it here for bots to scoop). -Cameraman
