Nice review! I appreciate the fact that you also discuss acoustic guitars on your channel now and then. Lately I've been enjoying my (cheap) acoustic guitar a lot, after admittedly neglecting it for a long time 😅

thanks man! same for me....I have mostly played electrics...but acoustics are super cool so I decided to buy a couple of models that are really popular and most likely offer great value for the money. And so far I have really enjoyed playing these, even tho these are cheap acoustics.

A very good review. My first acoustic guitar was the Squire SA 105 and the strings were a bit high around the nut, but I stayed with it. I sold all of my acoustic guitars as I only really have time for electric now. I will give the Yamaha FG800 a go next time I’m in a music shop. Many thanks.

thank you for saying that! yes, I recommend testing this and maybe the big brother, Yamaha FG830. I'm more of an electric guitar guy as well...tho I love acoustics too (I even have 1 old Yamaha classical guitar).

I just got this guitar yesterday, and after bringing it home and playing it for a little while, I am not totally impressed with it. The other guitar I have is an epiphone aj100/ce, which is a jumbo sized dreadnought, made with laminated spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides. I find compared to the epiphone, the yamaha has a very metalic tinny sound and also lacks much low end. Not sure if that might have to due with the strings it comes with. It comes with yamaha light guage 80/20 strings I believe. Normally I use phosphor bronze strings. I also notice the matte finish on the yamaha guitar to be rough in some places. With a little more attention to detail, the finish would feel much smoother and better. Perhaps I am being too demanding for what is a very budget guitar. What I like about the yamaha is how it feels. The neck feels pretty nice and in general I find it easy to play. The body shape and size feels comfortable for playing sitting down. But the epiphone in comparison, is more heavy on the low end and less heavy on the high end, and it has a balanced woody tone. Overall I find the epiphone much better for my playing style, which is mostly strumming rhythm. Thankfully I can return the yamaha if I decide to do that. I will try to give it more time to see if I like it more. I think in the future I will perhaps stick to epiphone or something that sounds more similar to what I like.

I like your guitar case behind your couch . wondering what brand is that? Is it fit good for your Yamaha guitar? How about the guitar string spacing are they have enough room at all for the fingers?

Hi! It's a Gator Deluxe ABS Molded Case. I haven't tested it with this Yamaha, but it should work well, I will test it soon and report back. To me, this Yamaha did have enough string spacing, but I do have small hands. Thank you for taking the time to comment!
