@Jeffery Filler those Heroin years were blotchy at best...the reason he wrote the book was because he found notebooks and pieces of paper that he wrote on as a make shift 'diary' when he was on tour in the mid 80's. he said when he read those,some were only half finished thoughts on paper and he couldnt piece everything together,but most he did..an wrote the book as a result.

Blackie does what I call "Thinking Man's Metal." All of Metallurgy does this once in awhile; a song here, or there. basically, one song ROCK OPERAS, AC/DC did it with the Siamese twin songs WALK ALL OVER YOU/ TOUCH TOO MUCH, OVERDOSE, and LET THERE BE ROCK. GNR did it with the again siamese (must be played together) songs ESTRANGED/ SO FINE, as well as CIVIL WAR. Judas Priest has DON'T HAVE TO BE OLD TO BE WISE, BEYOND THE REALMS OF DEATH, DREAMER/DREAMER DECIEVER and all of NOSTRADAMUS. Blackie does it CONSTANTLY. MOST of his albums are rock operas per song. Thinking Man's metal. He thinks it out first.

I likes me some wasp too, but calling it thinking man's metal may be a bit of a stretch. "Lick it hard, lap it up, do it now baby, touch it, touch it Lick your lips and flash your paws Shuck me suck me, eat me raw Ooh, harder faster" ~ Blackie Lawless Now THAT'S some quality poetry right there. Not sure if it's on the level of Fates Warning or Rush though. Cheers!

Perhaps Sixx can see himself, or Blackie see's himself as not dissimilar to Nikki. Both men have been arguably the critical driving influence in their respective bands. Joe Elliot from Leppard has always been the driver - even if DL have always operated as a democracy, like Crue, but Nikki's always had the final say. The late genius Steve 'The Riffmaster' Clark was the brilliant songwriter/creator of iconic brutal riffing/harmonies/melodies/hooks, live Clark was dazzling. But it was Elliot's parents that loaned him the $$ to record Leppard's first ever record, when Steve died the loss remains incalculable. He penned/musically gifted DL 90% of their music - with 'Mutt' mining the diamonds, Steve delivered - but Elliot managed to keep DL intact, even if their lack of success post Steve's passing betrays just how much Steve really was the lyrical/musical genius. I do not know why Blackie receives slagging off, like Lars [another driver] who also gets slagged off. Sixx's great talent has always been his drive. And lyrical capabilities. Interviews like this are golden, they give an insight into the behind the scenes dynamics of bands.
@somewhatsomething4882
@somewhatsomething4882 3 жыл бұрын
Man are you serious about his "lyrical capabilities"..? I remember buying GGG and thinking it had some of the worst, laziest lyrics I'd ever heard. I was only 15 and I was like "are these guys serious?" "A baby cries, a cop diesa day's pay on the wild side" WOW SO DARK SO DEEP LMAO Got me into real music like Queensryche, Soundgarden, Megadeth, etc... Thx for that at least Motley Crue.

When I read the Dirt, all the chapters written by Nikki were way more detailed and in depth, you can tell he's the brains. I tried to sing a few WASP songs, that's when I realised how great Blackie's voice is. Even when pro singers do covers of WASP songs, it'll sound good if you've never heard the original, but then you play the WASP version and Blackie's voice blows them to bits, it's laughable.

@@infiniteuniverse9528 Chris Holmes has been very anti-Blackie since he was kicked from the band. Blackie basically just ignores his accusations and antics. It's his word against Blackie's and there were never any charges filled, so who knows who's right. I tend to give Blackie a pass personally because he's not the one finding some random new accusation to throw around every year and is always calm and reasonable in interviews about Holm, the reverse can't be said. I can't stand Blackie's religious ramblings, political direction and how he kept the band in check with an iron fist, but in this case it seems unfair to label him as a thief.
@infiniteuniverse9528
@infiniteuniverse9528 2 жыл бұрын
@@merileopardisaksassa7030 You believe Blackie why, because there's no history in Rock and Roll of band leaders ripping off their band and not paying them what they are owed? It's become commonplace for bandleaders to make the band promises about pay, stringing them along while never truly intending to pay them their dues. Perhaps your not familiar with how shady the music biz is. Why do you think all these bands break up in the 1st place? Ozzy, Dio, Dokken, you name it, all have allegations of them not paying their band and running off with the money. But not Blackie huh? It's also easy to be the calm one and take the high road when your the one with all the money in your account.

Blackie may be all that but he treated Chris Holmes like sh**. I can’t respect a guy who F’s over his band mates, especially ones that helped make him famous. Say what you will but Chris was a major contributor to their sound. Never got any respect based on a stupid interview or whatever. Blackie was jealous, Chris was hot

youve never heard me play 😆 I got invited to join a band in Lafayette Indiana because they liked the way I looked . I liked to sing , was barely competent on a guitar so they decided I should play bass and sing in their band. I did and had lots of fun and even played with Izzy Stradlin a couple times before he joined Guns and Roses. I had many free beers and drugs and got laid more than I deserved to
