Great times, I recall that summer vividly. The US Festival, Quiet Riot's "metal health" still new, MC's "too fast for love" was out, Iron Maiden had just released "piece of mind", Fastway's great debut, Scorpion's "blackout" still new, J.Priest's "screaming for vengeance" still new, Zebra's debut, Van Halen was on fire with "diver down", Kiss' "creatures of the night" was still new, Def Leppard's "high n dry" relatively new, Rush's "signals" relatively new, 0zzy's "diary of a madman" relatively new,... And Ratt and WASP were about to hit the scene, along with Dokken's breakthrough "tooth n nail".. What a great era for rock!.. I recall looking thru metal magazines with all the pics from US Festavil after having just bought "too fast for love" while in Dallas on summer vacation with my KISS "creatures of the night" tour shirt on as a sophomore in h.s. I had just discovered weed and it's influence on how I heard music too. Wow!.. Good times

The reason Blackie goes on like this is due to the backlash he’s gotten from former band members & the lawsuits some have filed against him! Chris Holmes can’t stand Blackie for his dirty tricks he pulled with screwing him out of money!

Damn that debut album rocks. I listened to it last night. It’s like the heaviest glam metal could ever get with all the best parts of both heavy metal and glam. Soaring chorus’s that succeed in being catchy and guitar solos that shred the wax out of your ears if you’re wearing headphones.

5:27 this is so true. Your best takes are usually 1 or 2. If youre on take 57, youve lost the purpose. Shut it down, walk away, get a burger and a beer, whatever. I always called it 'chasing your tail'. You have to learn to listen to the entire recorded performance coming at you, not just a little squeak you heard or whatever. It can he maddening. Some takes have warts, but have the urgency and intensity you need and you have to trust it. Like Browde said, youre hearing things NOBODY will hear or notice ...lol

It really delves into the true history of the band and the drama surrounding the making of such legendary songs that I grew up with. I'm 56 now, and so much has gone on with that band. I'm anxious to see the part 2 of this.

He used to be the bass player for a band called Donte Fox, which later changed their name to Great White.

THAT THOSE early recorded demos ARE way better/MORE raw than the original WASP LP (as Blackie stated, the 4th attempt at doing the songs)....A drummer associate HAD sent me a copy of it, a few plus years ago but I blew it OFF/forgot about it 😕.... I'm assuming? That those early demo versions of MOST the original WASP album ARE, STILL somewhat "available", out theres?..... NOW, I WANNA hear THOSE versions! Lol 😆. 🤘🔥🤘

Do you really think that a guy like Chris Holmes or any regular person on the street was familiar with medical or mental health conditions? This guy's whole life revolved around surfing, fishing, music and drugs and alcohol. I'm pretty sure that he barely made it through high school, if he graduated at all. Wrong. Steve is worlds better than Tony.

@MigrantAssassinationSquad666 I didn't think so. I love the first release, couldn't stand the stuff with Steven Riley on it, but I loved him on the first LA Guns release... I just didn't care fir him in WASP, granted I loved Tony Richards.

I remember when I saw wasp around 2010 at the mp3 festival. Wasp would only agree to do the show if they headlined. So kix stepped aside and let them headline. It was a 2 day festival with 25 or so bands. Twisted sister was there also, it wasn’t a bunch of hack bands, it was all big hair bands from the 80’s. Blackie lawless wouldn’t leave the bus until showtime, I heard he had all these weird specific things in his contract. I met so many of my rock heroes that weekend but blackie just sat in the bus, he wouldn’t meet anyone. Literally EVERYONE there bands and fans, said blackie was nothing but a poser and a true asshole. They played some obscure wasp alblum that no one gives a shit about. He was dressed ridiculous. I have no love for this jerk. He’s fucked over everyone that ever worked with him.

I don’t know man. The debut doesn’t sound “too polished” to my ears. The follow up is where they (or I should say Blackie and Spencer) went crazy on overdubs and multitracking BS. I mean, I like the bird sounds on “Wild Child”, but that tells you all about OTT production
