Who the hell listens to Lynyrd Skynyrd and says ' no songs' ? That's bizarre. Even if you are not a fan of southern rock, you gotta acknowledge that they had songs , and lots of them. Few bands have a higher ratio of good songs per album

Great fucking interview! Man…to hear all the behind the scenes stories of all these bands from one of the great hard rock producers (a personal favorite of mine) is just stellar. I’d love to hear Tom’s thoughts on another great melodic Hard Rock/New Wave/Pop band he produced, The Producers. I love that first record; it’s as good sounding today as it was 40 years go when it came out. Tom should write a book about his career, seriously, as another poster mentioned below. I’d devour it in a day. Looking forward to more great interviews like this one. Thanks!

NIKKI said had WILD SIDE been produced by Bob Rock it'd sound better.. I can't help but think that's true. THAT'S a song begging for BASS turned to 11 .. but as with most of Werman's production it's non existent. HOWEVER maybe... not always but maybe sometimes the producer gets MORE credit than they deserve.. especially if the SONG is ALREADY there. Every Rose Has It's Thorn... Home Sweet Home... Never Enough ...those are hits that just need recording; an oversimplification perhaps but if the song is there it's THERE... and if it isn't... well ...you can't "produce" a diamond from a lump of coal no matter how hard you press. My point is yes Tom has sold millions of records but maybe a much of that credit should not be attributed to him. I'm no sound engineer but I listen to the songs Dancing on Glass vs. Dr. Feelgood and there's a world of difference in sound quality.
