I know y’all are further ahead, but just to clarify: The only Hominculi that were made by putting a Philosopher’s Stone in a person’s body are Wrath(Bradley) and Greed(Ling). The others were created without a human vessel/container. And as an aside, Ling accepted the stone without a fight while Bradley had his original soul and the souls of his stone fight until only a single soul remained. The Homunculi’s regeneration is just them spending the energy from their stone’s stockpile of souls to rebuild their bodies, so Bradley only having one soul means he has no regeneration ability.

I think the humunculii are themed sub-sets of "Father's" weirdly gestalt being. Like Lust was made using the thirstiest souls from their progenitor's whole.

**NON-SPOILERS HOMUNCULI DETAILS**: The homunculi don't have a standard template, they can really be anything whose body/form has been created/recreated artificially and usually piloted by an artificial soul. These artificial souls are created from Father's own soul (IE: Father calls greed "his avarice" and during the episode where the first greed died, said that greed was both his son and a part of his own soul). Essentially, Father removed the aspects of himself that most closely resembled the 7 sins and morphed them into their own artificially created souls. These seven souls are housed within their own philosopher's stones. As we know philosopoher's stones are made up of multiple human souls, and it is by expending the energy of these souls that alchemy can be done without equivalent exchange. The artificial souls of the homunculi are the most powerful souls within the stone and specifically made to be the soul in charge of controlling it. Souls are expended to create an artifical body around the stone for the homunculi to use, with more souls expended to repair that body whenever it is damaged (think of it like one mortal wound requires one soul to be sacrificed in order to heal the damage, as if that soul took that death instead of the homunculus). Their abilities too are tied to the stone, and like their regeneration are alchemical in nature and defy equivalent exchange. The seven homunculi created by Father cannot do normal alchemy themselves, but their abilities are basically pre-made alchemic transmutations hard-coded into their stones (greed's shield, lust's fingers, etc. are all just advanced alchemical transmutations but they are limited to only doing their ability). Each stone does have a finite amount of souls within them, and if taxed too greatly (usually by sustaining too much damage and overusing their regeneration) can cause them to be left with only their singular own artificial soul remaining. At this point, any life threatening damage can kill them (like mustang killing lust). With gluttony, his stone ran out of souls to draw energy from to regenerate and he was mortally wounded, but had not yet died and thus could be recovered by Father. Father can return the artificial souls of the homunculi to his own body by reabsorbing their philosopher stone, and can choose to have them retain their memories or remove them (recreating greed without his memories versus recreating gluttony with his intact). The process of melting the first greed down when he got captured may be the process by which to purge their memories before being reabsorbed by father, or it may have simply been to torture greed. Unlike Greed and Gluttony, Lust was completely destroyed by Mustang and as such her artificially created soul is gone forever and cannot be returned to Father. Most homunculi had their bodies created directly from the philosopher's stone, but some are uniquely created with a human base (Envy specifically called it a "human based homunculus"). This is done by injecting the philosopher's stone into a human's bloodstream, where it will then attempt to merge with the body and recreate it an artifical form. Most do not survive, but those who do will become a homunculus like the others. Wrath is a unique case because his stone was created with the explicite purpose of finding only the most wrathful soul that exists within it to have control, regardless of it being Father's extracted wrath or not. When injected into Bradely's bloodstream, each soul within fought one another until only one soul, the most wrathful and angry soul, remained alive and in control. Thus Wrath is a homunculus with only one soul remaining, as such he can age like a normal human but cannot regenerate like the average homunculi (this was done with the purpose of having Wrath blend in seamlessly with normal humans). Ling being turned into Greed did not use this unique version of a human-based homunculus process and still has many souls within his stone to regenerate from or use his ability with, effectively being not much different from the original Greed but with a different body.

The Door of Truth does have a depiction of the Kabbalistic "tree of life" with the name "Adonai" (a way of saying the name of God, YHWH) featured prominently on it in many shots....but good luck making sense of it all. What is going on will be explained for the most part, but there are not enough pieces of the puzzle revealed for you to realistically guess yet.
