There are two actors in this movie that don't get recognised enough imo, but it's understandable with American viewers, since they are not really known over there. The first is the "Fat Lady", whose painting guards the Gryffendor tower. Here, she is played by British actress, writer and comedian, Dawn French, who is probably most remembered as part of a double act, with Jennifer Saunders, creator and star of Absolutely Fabulous and voice of the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2. The second, is even more understandable, even to UK audiences, since it's voice alone. The Shrunken Head on the Night Bus, played here by British writer, actor and comedian, Lenny Henry. While he is probably unknown to US viewers for his acting work, he is known more for his charitable endeavours, being the co-founder of the Comic Relief charity. He is quite a familiar face to UK viewers though, since he has been a regular on TV screens for well over 40 years now. His early career, saw him join up with an alternative comedy troupe called "The Comic Strip", which included members who would go on to be pretty huge names in comedy...including Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall (who was supposed to appear as Peeves in the movies, but was cut and didn't return), Nigel Planer, Keith Allen, Alexei Sayle, Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Jennifer Saunders and of course Dawn French. And it was here that Dawn French and Lenny Henry would meet, marry and remain together for 25 years, until their divorce in 2010...so they were still together during this in 2004. Incidentally, Dawn French lived fairly close to me for many years and I have seen her out and about several times and I once served Lenny Henry in a store I used to work at!

the book explains about the tree - there is a way to "turn it off" for a while ... it was planted there to hide the entrance to that tunnel, and anyone who knew the secret could put the tree to sleep [sort of] and Lupin knew, so he stopped the tree to follow after them. Never mind - I see now that Arianna knows already and remembers the details much better than I do [but I haven't read the book in a very long time]

I don't normally enjoy it when a reactor has already seen the thing they're reacting to, but I super enjoy Arianna reacting to these movies. She's great at gently helping Maple with some of the stranger bits of the story, she earnestly enjoys Maple's new perspective, and she's having a lot of fun reliving something so nostalgic. Great stuff!

My favorite things about Prisoner Of Azkaban: 1. The Dementor attack on the Hogwarts Express. (Perfect dose of horror and suspense). 2.The song "Double Trouble". (Which is a nod to the witches from the Shakespearean play Macbeth) 3. Hermione punching Malfoy right in his smug face. 4. The introduction of Gary Oldman as Sirius Black and David Thewlis as Remus Lupin. 5. Harry flying on Buckbeak's back over Hogwarts (SPECTACULAR scenery). 6. Harry learning to use The Patronus Charm from Professor Lupin. 7. Harry fully using The Patronus Charm to save Sirius and himself at the edge of the Black Lake. 8. Lupin being the only *_COMPETENT_* Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher. 9. Fred & George gifting Harry with the Marauders Map.

My favorite subtle detail in this movie is the travel agent hastily and sheepishly removing a Kleenex bib from her collar as she sits at her desk. Somewhat like the “broken elevator” and the unskilled bus driver it’s a sign that she was rushed straight from the makeup chair to scene at the very last minute.

Acknowledgment of shared fate In the final moments of a character's life, "be seeing you" can be used to acknowledge that the assassins are all destined for the same place. For example, Aries says "be seeing you" again in her dying moments, echoing Viggo's dying line in the first film.

"Mini models"--awesome. It's a great testament and compliment to the 1979 VFX work of Brian Johnson and the miniature designs of Chris Foss & Ron Cobb that a young person in 2024 would say "like how did they do that?" That makes me happy! Today's movies have a seemingly unlimited number of visual effects problems to solve and multiple and huge teams. But in 1979, it might be a team of 5-10 brilliant, creative people who were a combination of problem solvers and magicians.

Something i wish they explained in the movies is that magical folk are built alittle more tough than muggles, thats why what we would find dangerous for kids, is still dangerous, but to a lesser degree in more cases. Neville was dropped out a window as a toddler by his grandpa just to show he wasnt a squib 😂
