FMA was the original and start out with the manga and caught up to the manga them improvised at the half way point. FMAB is more accurate to the manga and ends with the manga stuff but skips some on the stuff that was in the original but references them. I recommend watch both fully but some people recommend start with FMA until the canon stuff ends then jump to FMAB
@fieratheproud3 жыл бұрын
I honestly wouldn't recommend watching part of FMA and jumping midway to FMAB, at least not as the introduction to the series, simply because FMA knew from the start it would eventually diverge and so they added a lot of foreshadowing for their own things that would not make sense in context of Brotherhood, plus the filler they put in (presumably in an attempt to let the Manga get a little further before they caught up?). While Brotherhood does speedrun the first 10 or so episodes, I feel it's part of the charm since the plot moves ahead like a freigh train. But yea, watching both versions of the story would be best. My personal preference is FMAB but I can see that FMA has it's own merits. (...tho for someone like me it's kinda hard to try to think of it as it's own thing and I'm constantly comparing to the Manga/Brotherhood, especially when things make less sense or something just feels out of character for someone haha)

I highly recommend watching the first seven episodes of the original 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist; stopping after watching the episode "Night of the Chimeras Cry", and then starting from episode one of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. While the original FMA falls apart towards the end the first seven episodes have significantly better pacing and cover some events ignored in FMA:B.

Fullmetal Alchemist is the quintessential shounen. It has everything and something for everyone. When people ask you "What's your favorite anime?", you answer based on which you like the most. When people ask you "What's the best anime?", you don't do that. They don't want to know what you like, they want to know what you critically think is the best. When people ask me that, I answer "Fullmetal Alchemist". And I add "Brotherhood" to it because that's the one that adapted the manga all the way to the end. Which by the way, is also my answer when people ask me "What's the best manga you've ever read?".

I like that FMA is not like your other shounen that's just action after action and the main character is almost always untouchable. The main character's power level is essentially just like everybody else, except he is determined to achieve his goal. It also gives plenty of time for character and plot development. Honestly one of the best shounen around.
@Daigon953 жыл бұрын
What u said on Op5's "rage" doesnt fit the song. Tht start of the red color scheme is showing Edward with a sad face screaming out into those characters. Its not "rage", its pain and misery. Which does fit with the song.

Fullmetal alchemist ended up catching up to the anime near the later seasons so they had to make up their own ending. Fullmetal alchemist Brotherhood occurs after the manga and actually follows the story fully. I recommend watching FMA first and then FMAB because they go the in depth backstory episodes quickly, almost assuming/expecting that you have already seen the FMA to get the foundation.

The premise of the show is that the brothers use alchemy to bring back their mother, but it backfires and they lose their bodies so they are journeying to try and find a way to get their bodies back (not spoilers it's literally the first ep of the original series and 2nd of brotherhood)

What’s the difference between Fullmetal Alchemist and FMA: Brotherhood? The original FMA aired while the manga was still being published, so it’s plot went in a different direction and came up with an anime original ending. FMA: Brotherhood aired later after the manga had completed and is a completely faithful adaptation of the manga. The thing I feel bad about in your case is if you aren’t at all familiar with FMA, the OPs visually aren’t going to make much sense. If you are, the OPs hit hard.

The difference is... Fullmetal Alchemist: is the original that starts by following the story in the Manga but midway through, it takes a turn (in my opinion the turn was still good) and it stopped following the Manga series and started its own story. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: Is the 2006 version which follows the Manga with detail and in my opinion is much better than the 2003 version. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is one of my favourite Anime and Manga of all time and I HIGHLY recommend it

All I can say is prepare to get emotional when watching Brotherhood. It's been years since I read/watched the series but some scenes and the music sticks with you. Without spoiling too much. Alchemy is a science that exists in this world, the two brothers tried to use Alchemy to do something that is forbidden and paid a dear price in the process. They now strive to reverse what was taken from them and in the process uncover a conspiracy that could shape the fate if the entire country.

Although JoJo still is my favourite series ever, FullMetal Alchemist comes pretty dang close along with Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I'd say FMA is more grounded and not as wacky as JoJo, with a more linear, but also more coherent plot instead of JoJo's overgrown mutant family bush. While I still prefer JoJo because of Araki's sheer creativity (not to mention he was one of the pioneers in manga history), and his ability to make you *feel* things, FMA is also absolutely amazing and the story is frankly more adult than a lot of "adult" shows out there. Sadly I cannot say anything about the anime, I'm an anime only lol. I heard FMAB is pretty close to the manga, and if that's true, then it must really be great. I would absolutely give it a try. Oh, I would also look up Gurren Lagann's opening- it's pretty good too.
