Fullmetal Alchemist has Some of the Sweetest Video Game Adaptations | Review the PS2

This time it's my favorite anime, and some interesting beat em ups! Should they be skipped, are they amazing hidden gems, or are they just all right? The PS2 only got 2 Fullmetal Alchemist games in America, so let's take a look at them.

The average review for The Broken Angel is quite low. Am I wrong about the game, or do I just have a better taste than everyone else? Let me know how how full of myself I am down below!

Everyone has their own tastes in games, and that one game they seem to like more than everyone else seems to. There is nothing wrong with you liking the game, but maybe you are more accepting of the game's faults than most mainstream critics at the time were. The way I see it, the game has a few oversights in its combat encounters that lend themselves to what's known as "optimal play", that is to say a single strategy that works across the entire game. Needless to say, when a player figures out seemingly the best way to get through every encounter, they're just going to use that same technique over and over again regardless of how stale it gets. You bothered to experiment with the game's variety of options, but for a reviewer just trying to get through the game to meet the deadline, there really isn't that much of an incentive or push by the game to try out the other options, meaning the experience was probably much more repetitive for them.

@@chrisossu2070 That's true. The spear, sword, and knife appear in almost every area. You can transmute them and stick to melee combat, but there's so much more goofy stuff to try out and have fun with.

I love old games that used cell shading. Holds up SO much better than other art styles. I want to play these games! Just finally watching FMAB now in season 3

Don't upset any copyright holders. Make good use of alchemy and if it has multiple characters, make their alchemy styles different

William Rootz if you want to get everything on the first game it becomes a little bit challenging since you have to be under leveled to get all the accessories and if you beat the game once new game plus will be more difficult

I wished Square would do a collection of all the home console FMA games into one package, including the ones that weren’t released in the states. It’d be neat to play all these games that are based off both 03 and Brotherhood.

There are two more Fullmetal Games on the Ps2 , but they are only in japanese , i had the fourth one as a child , it was a fun game, but also a wild ride train to figure out what to do in the game 🤡

I only cover ntsc games. Kinda hard to review two games that are entirely in Japanese. One day I might do an import video though and they would be worthy contenders.

It kind of annoys me how you keep using footage of Brotherhood considering this game is based off the 2003 version and Brotherhood wasn't even a thing when these games came out. I also find Brotherhood to be the most overrated anime ever with ridiculous amounts of critical immunity but that is beside the point. I also think Shou is given way more nuance in the 2003 version but that is also besides the point. I am surprised you enjoyed these games, I remember everyone in their mother calling these games crap whenever they did get brought up. I am surprised someone did go indepth and enjoyed these games. They do seem like more interesting anime licensed games than your typical arena fighting and musou shit so I might play the game based off that novelty. Still not sure. They do seem decent enough.
