Hello! In the video, I describe the curriculum and the overall experience from day one to the capstone--I also provide some tips that would be beneficial if you decide to take the same path as I did.
Please do not hesitate to ask any questions regarding the program. I'll try to answer the best I can.
This video is intended to be informative on my experience during my Part-Time Web Development program through San Jose State University powered by Fullstack Academy. Please do the proper research before signing up for ANY coding boot camp.

You should’ve went over the post bootcamp stuff as far as trying to get interviews, where you are in your job search, etc

Thanks for the call out. I’ll pin a comment to this so that viewers can get an updated progress. To answer you individually tho, it’s tough getting an interview as my applications are among the hundreds to thousands each job posting. I’ve been out of the program since July and still applying.

@@CrzPrz Thank you for the quick response. That appears to be what everyone is going through right now in this industry. Im in the process of a career change, I have a little coding experience, currently in college for CS and working reduced hours at amazon(approx. 30-35hrs) . I will be starting the program around the same time as my next semester starts. Amazon is paying for the bootcamp completely, I know it’s going to be a lot but I feel that this is my next step to get to where I want to be.

@@onlyws3033 That's pretty sweet that it's on Amazon's dime for your tuition, what a win! That's a lot to manage for sure but with patience and excellent time management, you can double up with school and BootCamp. Backtracking to your first statement, this is indeed the state of the industry right now. Lots of layoffs and lots of competition so as long as you understand this is what you're up against then you should be prepared for expectations post grad. I also highly recommend continuing your studies for your bachelors. But I wish you well on your journey and good luck!!

@@CrzPrzCan you speak about Fullstack's corporate partners? They have a pretty extensive list on their website. Thanks!

Ghanks for this man! Good stuff. How did you find FA's career support? Helpful?

Thank you for watching! During the program, we meet up quite often to participate in "career workshops." Some of them could be resume-building, writing an elevator pitch, and even exploring the other verticals that work with engineers, like product managers. They could be better in terms of post-program. When I finished, I'd get emails regarding job openings, which was great, but nothing more. They don't offer leverage to grads to companies within their network. It's still more of a traditional job hunt post-grad experience. (Apply and hope for the best.) Right now, they're revamping their career support, so what I say now will be different going forward. However, this was my experience. Don't let this decide for you, though. In terms of content and what we learn, it's pretty solid. Hope that answers your question. ✌

Thamks Chris! How many hours weekly do you think you spent on average (class time + outside study) dedicated to the bootcamp? I think on the FA site (and most other part time bootcamps) say to keep pace you will be doing roughly 30ish hours a week (your mileage may vary)

Thank you for your comment. I mentioned to another viewer that I spent roughly 15 hours on additional learning from resources outside of the curriculum, and the remaining time amounted to about 15 hours as well. So, yes, a total of 30 hours for me. Of course, as you said, everyone is different. I would add that larger projects obviously require a few more hours.

@CrzPrz what would you prefer windows or mac
@CrzPrz

Thanks for the comment! I actually started out on a pc but when we were setting up git, it got a little too complicated. So I ended up switching over to my MacBook which was easier for me. However everyone has their preferences. In my workplace, most if not all the engineers have macs. Not sure if that helps with your decision to choose.

Hi! As much as I’d liked to share my instructors name because she was great, I’d like to respect her privacy as well. Sorry about that!

Roughly how many hours a week were you doing outside of classes?
@CrzPrz
@CrzPrz 7 ай бұрын
Outside of class I’d spend 5 days actively learning for about 1-3 hours at a time. Maybe ~15 hours at most a week. While the remaining time was purely working on projects which consumed most of my time.

How much was tuition? Was it affordable? Did you get any help?

The total that I paid was 13k. I used a lender called Climb Credit to pay for the program. They offered a deferment period after the program ends before they start the repayments. I’d suggest using them if you’re think of ways to pay if you’re interested in loans.
