I just replaced a old microwave with this model GE. The templates are much easier to work with if you'll find a peice of cardboard & tape the template to it. Then it's not so floppy & difficult to put in place. Worked out great. Good luck.

I just bought a new ge to replace one that was 6 years old. Lowes. Same bracket mount for both models. I also used a roughneck rubber made box with cardboard boxes (folded) to catch the unit if necessary. Had a friend help who knew how to do it. Only issues: screws had to be redrilled because not exactly right, turn blowers around. I wanted unvented out the front. Easier with two people but possible with one. We lined up templates but taping them up was not necessary. Accurate video. Good job.

Nice Job. To avoid splitting the wood on inside of cabinet I recommend drilling a pilot hole through the bottom first then drill down from the top with spade bit.

My unit that just went bad is almost exact same unit as your old unit, and my new unit is probably exact same as your new unit. Therefore your video will be very helpful. I won't have any helper myself, but am thinking that I can find the right size cardboard box to set on top of the stove to act as a landing, instead of having to build a platform. Thanks for the very helpful video.

Truth, we had to take a ge back because one of the clamps where you screw in the top to hold it, fell out. So 59.00 delivery fee on new one, I love Lowes.

Thank you for showing me what to expect after I buy my replacement and go to install it. I already removed the old one without watching someone do it, and it took me awhile to figure out how to unhinge it. Little did I know that I needed to tilt the microwave forward at aprox. 30 deg. angle, and then lift up and out! It did have a milk crate and cardboard box prepared to "catch" the oven as it came off the rear hinge bracket.

Nice job, but I don't recommend anyone buying any new GE appliance. In 2016 GE sold off their appliance division to a Chinese company called HAIER. The quality has dropped considerably. My GE 1200 Watt microwave has already bit the dust and I only had it for 11 months and I live alone. When I bought mine I did not know it was actually made by Haier untill it was too late. Their refrigeration products are also junk. Mostly those get leaks. Don't let that pretty GE emblem give you hope of a trusted company with long lasting products. GE sold off the NAME for a $5.3 billion.

GE microwave just took a shit, was blowing bulbs, went to replace today, melted bulb receptacle, ge oem bulbs, kept blowing. Now it’s dark screen and does nothing no reset. Says made in China 1 year warranty. Maybe three years old.

Of course they don't put the holes for the top in the same spot. I even bought the same model as the microwave I am replacing and nothing matches up . The old frame had 4 slots to fit in the back of the microwave, the new frame only has 2 . This is the 3rd microwave we have had and the holes in the top don't match at all either .

What can make cold air come out the sides of the microwave? Would it be the guy didn't properly line up or hook up the vent that goes up into the attic? It's so cold now that it is winter and my kitchen isn't warm. I even had more insulation put in and it is still cold around it and inside when I open the door.

I got the same one at Best Buy (open box) $70.00, the manual or the installation booklet were missing, we rushed to put the new one on that we did not open the ventilation holes. Is that indispensable? Thank you in advance.
@brimusic336 жыл бұрын
Get a helper 101. Now the previous unit you had had a different ventilation system because it was in the front. Can you use this one without the back ventalition system?
@Fullsteammedia6 жыл бұрын
The one I removed also ventilated out the back. The new one has three options depending on how you position the vent motor assembly. You can vent it out the back through the wall duct or out the top through a duct or you can set it up for non ventilating or recirculating the air out the top vent near the front of the door. There is a charcoal filter that you install that absorbs the smoke and grease that you chance when it gets full.

couch cushions and 1/2" thick sheet of plywood work well to "shim" the microwave and allows for a little give when wrestling it into place. first, a stove top sized piece of plywood on top of the gas burners...2 cushions, and the second sheet of plywood. and then, a smaller pillow to help hold the microwave in place while fiddling with the mounting screws.
