Kerry- I absolutely loved this video! Specifically the part where you got emotional upon seeing the Colorado River (has happened to me several times at the Canyon as well), and the conversation with the park ranger... for some reason, I had the biggest smile on my face during that whole encounter. Your first R2R2R video actually inspired me to do my first R2R2R, which I did this past October (there's a video of it on my channel if you'd like to check it out!). Anyway, thanks for the inspiration, and for all the amazing content you provide!

We live in AZ, have been to the Grand Canyon many many times over the years. I have been so taken with the Grand Canyon I wrote a guide for the North and South Rim. But we have never been below the Rim to the Colorado River. To see your video is the ultimate video tour guide to be down into the canyon that I have seen so many times before. Thank you for doing the R2R2R and having the strength and fortitude to video that journey. This video is a Classic. Your emotion about the views and site of the GC is universally held. I have been to the Welcome Center, walked the 1/4 mile to the Rim at Mather Point and have seen the almost total silence that falls over people when get their first true in-person look at and into the Grand Canyon. People can not believe what they see. It almost looks unreal like some vast computer graphic panorama laid out before them. Stunned Silence is that universal reaction at First Sight. That stunned silence trying to take it all in...I have seen that countless times. If you have a Bucket List, put the Grand Canyon, at least the South Rim and hopefully the higher North Rim as something you should see before you die, at the top of your To Do list. You will never forget the views, the geology, the air, and if you are alone, the connection to our planet to you when you visit the Grand Canyon. One hint, from my book, you must...MUST...see the sunset from Grandview Point. Thank you again, Kerry. frederickfichman.com

Just take 2 Pair of YakTrax and you are good. It is truly the best time to go. Just don't plan on any services once you climb out on the North Rim prior to mid April. Some crazies from Flagstaff and Boulder cross the Canyon from the South Rim to the North Rim with X country skis on their backpacks and once on top at the North Rim ski to the lodge at Jacobs Lake. Now THERE is an adventure !

Watching this as I am about to go out on a trail run here in Lofoten, Norway. Not as far as your run, but it is steap! Also, you should check out the dji osmo pocket. Not as sturdy as Gopro but the stabilisation is top notch!
@FullTiltWard3 жыл бұрын
Roy, the Osmo would get hammered I think. I need something with brick-like toughness. I've got family in Norway up around Alta. There is incredible running there. And yes, steep, like it is often here in British Columbia, too.

How do you handle the water replenishment during off-season? I don't want to haul 2 gallons of water like I did for the Half Dome. I'm starting to research blogs but I wonder your opinion and experience about that.
@CsabaTothMr3 жыл бұрын
Like at 22:06 the water is shut off. Would I go down to the actual river and use a Katadyn Befree or something? I thought about that next time I do the Half Dome so I can refill at the Merced River on the top of Mist Trail.
@FullTiltWard3 жыл бұрын
I've found there to be reasonable water available all three times I've gone - though I still carry more than I need. If you have a filter, or treatment tablets, you should be fine.
