Neither Hojlund or Zirksee get any service. It’s pointless trying to judge players who consistently make runs and never receive the ball. This is the problem and until we supply them they won’t score. The number of times our other players waste wild shots when they should link up with the strikers is simply ridiculous. It’s football 101 and yet we don’t do it. Zirksee in particular is made for these opportunities with link up and give and go and is visibly frustrated when instead of chipping over the top to him we pass it back or sideways. Defences are totally comfortable sitting in front of us because we rarely do anything but circle them toothlessly. Amad is sometimes the exception to this, but even he hardly supplies the strikers. We don’t look like a team still.

Zirkzee could have scored 1 or 2 against Rangers if ppl just squared it to him for the open net. Rightly as you have said one of the main issues across multiple managers is a lack of selfless play in the final third. Way too many long shots. Kobbie's great goal in the FA cup final last year is the exception, we are rarely that composed or selfless to convert chances.

Zirkzee is a worse firming. Don't expect goals. Just good general play & assists. We need goal scoring wingers if we play with Zirkzee. Need more from amad , bruno, garna/rashford

So I don’t expect a lot of goals from him, as you say, he is not that kind of player, but he will get some if he gets service, and he will make others by his linkup and holdup play, which is very good. My main point which I think we all recognize is that, unlike any other team I admire, we don’t play between each other in front of goal or chip vertical balls over the top. So many wild and wasted shots from multiple players.

Amorim is in a difficult position of figuring out whether to temporarily stem the tide of poor results by changing things up a bit or continue with what he’s doing and give more time and training sessions to some of the players to instill his philosophy into them. It’s a really difficult predicament to be in and we need to get a few results in the league even if we’re focusing on Europa league so Ineos don’t pull the trigger like they’ve shown to do with various senior figures at United. I want him to have the time and backing to be able to rebuild.

We are most definitely underdogs. I'll be very surprised if we can get the win here given all the circumstances (possible injuries, our form, the fact they're good, the fact they're at home, the fact they've had a week off while we played on Thursday). Sorry Jay, but I didn’t agree with your first statement about Garnacho having a bad spell. He’s changed,or is trying his hardest to change it. I for one think he’s twice the player he was under the last manager, he is not scoring as many goals I imagine, as I’m not one for all these stats (leave em to Dave) yet from watching him play he is lifting up his head and looking to get a pass to a team mate, if he’s in a better position and he is crossing a lot more. Add that all up and you’ll end up with a better player, just in time for Real to pay us a100million or more. Even though he has said how much he wants to stay at the club, he didn’t say how long. So unless the money offered for him is waiting for us to get a certain left back. Then I would definitely keep him 3:49
