Good to see you back. More build videos?
@3D-printed-airplanes9 ай бұрын
Yeah, long time no see! I Got washed out of my apartment in the '21 flood desaster and it took me some efford to get all up running again. So I'm very happy to be back here as well. Yes, there will be a bunch of new bulid videos, but I'll use twitch this time and stream live-bulids to gather the footage. Erveryone interested will have the chance to join in, maybe build along, and see all haps and mishaps, ask questions, or just watch, relax and get a sneak peek of whats comeing up next. (...and I can tell, theres a lot on the bench for this season ;) Right now I am in the middle of setting everything up, printing parts and collecting the materials needed. I'll post the schedule and links here as soon as possible, so stay tuned.

It looks like it has big holes in it after the landing gear upgrade - I'm guessing it's no longer water tight?
@3D-printed-airplanes9 ай бұрын
Ummm... maybe it still is!?!🤷♂😅 All joking apart, it is still to be proofen. In the beginning I didn't hope to get it watertight, but the new prusa slicer is a real blessing and can help a lot closing the gaps inbetween layers. Since there was not much sealant necessary to get the main gear bays tight, I decided to caulck the rest and do a load test in the bathub, which was very promising. It kept tight and all important openings stood above waterline. So my educated guess is: It may take a little efford but is possible.

Can it still float or do you have to build it either or?
@3D-printed-airplanes8 ай бұрын
Like written in the userguide, you'll have to take some actions to caulk the fuselage. I made some tests in the bath tube and it floats well, but since my focus was on the gear last season, I didn't make it to the lake. I don't see any greater trouble, but the proof is still to be shown.

That's awesome - are the files on printlab?
@3D-printed-airplanes9 ай бұрын
I was planning so and sent in the files around christmas, but the guys didn't get going since. So I put the files on printables inbetween. www.printables.com/de/model/805533-consolidated-pby-catalina

@mkmodelling3208 OK so it's a new purchase even for people who bought and built the printlab one?
@3D-printed-airplanes9 ай бұрын
@@chrismiller746No, of course it isn't! There is a full version containing both fuselages and an upgrade pack for those who bought the V1 before. The files are finally out on 3DLabPrint. 🥳 3dlabprint.com/shop/consolidated-pby-catalina-v2/ and 3dlabprint.com/shop/consolidated-pby-catalina-v1-to-v2-upgrade/

@@3D-printed-airplanesThanks so much! looking forward to building the landing gear version - are the wings compatible between the two?
@spitfire76174 ай бұрын
I see that you recommend to build it from regular PLA but most 3dprinted planes these days use LW-PLA. Would using active or passive foaming LW-PLA be an advantage ?
@3D-printed-airplanes4 ай бұрын
No, not at all! Fuselage and wings are designed as integral construction with no beams or tubes needed. This will NOT work with any lightweight PLA. AUW is about 2,4 Kg resulting in a very low wing load. So no need for LW ... this time. The parkflyer Cat is completely LW to stay below the magic 200g. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5rXd4ialMiema8

@3D-printed-airplanes7 ай бұрын

@3D-printed-airplanes9 ай бұрын
