Buddy and I traveled from Boise with the idea of attending both Sat and Sun. After two hours Sat, that included time for a pretzel and water, we left. And didn’t come back. If you’ve ever attended the San Diego Car Show, you’d easily say this effort was pretty lame. So amazingly disappointed! Won’t even go into the details, but pretty sad and amateurish production. Sorry to have this comment as I’m a big EV industry fan and investor.

@@EVexplored briefly: - most EVs were privately owned, therefore, couldn’t get in out etc. - seem to market custom wrap / paint finishes more than EV - several major EV models weren’t there. - no Manufacture reps; seem to focus on KZbin channel POCs. - Info on home charging wasn’t bad, but pretty limited considering choices these days. - snack and food availability was lame. The one snack+ line was about 40 deep with 2 checkers so we passed. - pretty significant e-bike and e-3wheel; would have liked sine effort with cars. - Vinfast seem to have the best effort! - layout…. Like a high school gym vs effort for the San Diego car show. - such a huge missed opportunity for EV manufacturers, but given availability, ordering unknowns, and general sales rep lack of spec knowledge I can see why they were a no show. - 2 KZbin channel folks I see many videos on EV reviews said they’d be there. Didn’t see them but didn’t look too hard given we’re were leaving after a few hours. - parking attendants would have been nice to tell folks there were empty spots down stairs. - there were 2 other events at the Convention Center that weekend, so I guess this one was third-fiddle with remaining available space. - didn’t see anything on EV related rebate benefits. - seeing R1T in person was nice! R1S would have been nice! - No lucid so went to UTC. - No Tesla S, X, reps etc so went to UTC. - surprised to see Vinfast has a place at UTC also. - Again, after attending several SD car shows over the years and all the EV attention, was expecting a much more professional effort ‘show’.

@@rdk3996 Hi and thanks for your feedback. Quite understand some of it and I can say the the FCL folks tend to focus more on the education side with the panels. So many good panels to watch on various topics. I can also tell you that the main reason for lack of OEMs was the fact that NAIS was starting in a couple of days in Detroit, and for an OEM, that is where they HAVE to be. So it's a choice for them on where to spend monies and the big auto shows will always trump the smaller boutique shows. I've attended two of the FCL shows in the UK and they get pretty well all the OEMs out and they are 20,000+ attendance over 3 days now. And getting bigger. I also attended the first U.S. show in Austin in 2020 and they had a couple of OEMs there, so it really is dependant on timing. You are correct that this show was mainly educational, start ups (Aptera, Fisker, Solo Mecchanica, etc.), with Vinfast having the best setup. But they are really hungry and coming hard at the N.A. marketplace so no surprise to see them here. They were NOT in Detroit, if that says something about Vinfast. I too went to NAIS Detroit on the following Wednesday for the media day. If you were looking for KZbinrs, there were several including myself, Ben, Nikki and Laycee. There are literally a TON of KZbinrs, so it is hard to get many of them to come down to SD. I did as I felt it's important to keep up to date with the industry, and for me personally, I love to meet people and help answer questions and/or hear their EV journey stories. Also, was great for me to see the startups as they don't come to Canada nor do the big auto shows and I am already tapped into all the OEMs in North America via my Canadian Press accreditation (AJAC). I hope you will think about attending next year in SD again, as I expect it to be bigger and with more space, they will get more content including the OEMs. The Convention Centre in SD as you probably know, is horrendously expensive to rent and as such, a smaller scale to start is needed in order to gauge the interest for next time. Turnout was almost 10,000 over the two days, so this means a bigger space at another location next year with more stuff.
