First time finding your channel. I'm impressed with your 7310 build and also the style of your video - I think both were great. I've put about 10 gallons through my stock 7310 and it gets the job done but your ported specimen really lets the chips fly. Congrats

There is nothing that can describe the feeling when you run that saw you ported! I recognize that chuckle you made when you ran that rad saw 😁I am absolutely loving your pipe designs, they seem to be really working well. That pipe on that Echo really rocks, you have a real winner there. Loving the channel brother. I love how we are all sharing all of what we figure out it makes it so much more enjoyable. I can't wait to get some more time to get porting again, I have a few saws that I want to get to.

Oregon EXL is wicked fast chain. It does draw hard though. And I'm talking even just out of the box. I normally run a saw once or twice without touching the file, but it liked being clean up filed without touching rakers. Pulled nicer with a touch of tooth removed.

Does that 7310 cut faster than the 372xp cause chainsaw shack just done a wack off & 7310 came in 2nd behind 462 with 620p in 3rd and 372xp in last. My 372xp is ported but I find that hard to believe it's slowest of the 4

I don't know I've just never been impressed with Carlton chains myself. Here in Colville Washington I just get Husky chains mostly skip tooth for firewood and they seem pretty good. We have Stihl dealer too but they are more money.

Bad ass muffler mod. It looks great too man. If you like that echo you would love a Makita 7900. I did and exhaust mod that made a huge difference, but the piped saws really seem to be the best way to make torque. I don't have a tig welder though.

That's awesome pulls hard when dogging in and awesome that your giving credit where credit is due most people these days want to take all the credit themselves!!!! And your totally correct this porting game shouldn't be a total secret if someone doesn't train the next-generation then where would you be at? And these big name porters are so backed up that takes forever to get a saw in or done so not like us little guys thats starting out and doing our own or a few on the side is going to hurt the big name guys!!! Least that's my opinion...where are you located at if I may ask?
@novicelumberjack2 жыл бұрын
I'm in Atlanta. I did a few things that are my own ideas, but yeah...I've been researching port theory for twenty years. All of my knowledge on the subject comes from other minds. Communication is what has allowed the human race to progress as we have. Why stiffle that with stupid secrets? No one is loosing business due to their being too many porters. Donny may loose business due to Jimmy being better...but that just means that donny needs to step his game up, be a more likeable person, advertise, build a KZbin channel that showcases his work! There are all sorts of things to do, withholding knowledge isn't one of them.

As far as your chain choices go, try the skip tooth doing some noodles. They come out over 2x as long, sometimes 3. Full comp (full house) does good enough though for most things. At least in sweetgum. BTW, do you think that you have it up to 32” bar status yet?
@ToddAdams12342 жыл бұрын
AND, maybe one day you could look at my CS550P Echo (54.1cc). I love that little thing, it’s just a bit heavy even though I on run a 16” bar on it. But it’s nowhere NEAR my 372 as far as torque or speed, but it’s handier to run for most jobs. I just dropped a 20” sweetgum with it last weekend. That tree went EXACTLY where I wanted it, but it was an easy falling. Straight up and down. But she ended up PERFECTLY parallel to my driveway down to my lil shop 😜. Did I mention that I LOVE that lil saw! Those noodles are great fire starters for your home fire. Just sayin 🧐
@novicelumberjack2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. It will pull a 32" bar well now. It's seriously impressive.

Why don't they just port them from the factory?

All sorts of reasons. Chiefly, EPA. The way those transfer ports where was a direct aim at better emissions.

Buy a saw that has a design that's 20-30 years old, pay someone $300-400 to port it and modify it, void the warrenty. Or, spend a tad more money and buy a saw (500 i or what have you) that has an electronic carb for maximum power and efficiency, and a warranty,. Hmmmmm? To each there own I suppose.
@thomaslindroos16672 жыл бұрын
I could not give less about warranty tbh. The saw will hold up 40+ years and the only reason a saw blows up is if the operator messes up. No no but the real problem is that the 500i is a stihl and I'm an oldschool kinda guy
