The New Furies | Fan HTTYD Blender 3D Toon Short

After 5 weeks of work, here's the final edited mini movie. Keep reading for the full story synopsis or watch and be surprised :D
It was meant to be a simple story from the start: Toothless and Luna (the Light Fury) know their first-laid egg will be hatching soon. Toothless is concerned when he hears the first crackling sound but Luna reassures him.
After falling asleep by the nest, Toothless wakes up to find the first egg has hatched; His eldest son, Ruffrunner. Or, if I could have my own name for him, Eclipse.

This is a fan animated movie. All rights for audio go to Dreamworks, and all rights for music go to John Powell and Anthony Willis.

It isn't perfect (I would keep editing it to try to make it better, forever, but I had to stop sometime) though it did come out better than I thought it would. Especially for my first short :D

Not gonna lie I personally never was a fan of giving the Light Fury a name cause it kinda takes away from that wild and mistery part about her but Eclipse definetly sounds better than Ruffrunner, mostly cause Eclipse sounds like a name a dragon would give another dragon. I could imagine Night Fury's would name their ofspring after things that have to do with the night like moon,stars,sky and shadows among other things.

I do agree with you, but I was mostly tired of saying “the Light Fury” over and over again 😆 And yeah, Pouncer and Dart sound good, but Ruffrunner is a little strange. It doesn’t really make sense to me. Eclipse sounds much more….sensible, I guess 😄

Yeah I get that. Tho I have to say when the winter special came out I pretty much saw the Night Lights as me and my siblings cause they way the act and interact is exactly how me and my siblings are so I switched the genders a bit.

😆 I haven’t seen that show, but I know the majority of the httyd fan base doesn’t like it…I was very sad when I saw it was 1300 years in the future. Not to mention the graphics and new dragon designs :/

Actually, no. Dart is the female (black body, white nose and blue eyes) and the white one is Pouncer and the other black one (green eyes) is Ruffrunner.

OH MY GOSH! THIS IS AMAZING!!! For the stuff you do, you are so underrated! i really hope more people see this. The animation, and the models, just perfect! Edit: Thank you for the like! I don't know if you'll see this again, and if you accept tips on animation. I saw your wing flapping has become so much better! But another tip is if you have an ik bone/movable rig in the tip of the wings, when the characters are flying up, maybe try bending the wings even more in like a half-circle movement, since they are going up they need to do more physical force because of gravity so they also flap their wings a lot more. Either way, you're doing so well! Recommend watching the toothless flight from httyd 1 and 2, and the fight scene in the first movie

I definitely accept animation tips! And I fully agree with what you said about the wings. I tried to make them bendy enough, but its difficult when you have to animate three characters flying in the same scene :/ :D I know I could've done better, if I'd taken more time to re-render and re-animate...Anywho, thank you for writing all of that. I appreciate the feedback and you can be sure I will consider your advice in my next flying animation. I can always learn more :) Edit: I have actually watched and studied scenes from all the movies, and studied birds and bats flying, as well, to help me learn better techniques.

As a fan of HTTYD and a user of blender this is AMAZING!!! I'm working on a sculpt of Toothless myself so I could 3D print and have as a figurine. We will always wonder what their lives where like from the point the series and movies ended but we can only imagine, and this short was a glimpse of what could have been. Again amazing job.
