I forgot how beautiful these programs were before COP

Only because the judges had to leave scoring room for the 9 skaters following her. The judges basically have to give skaters in this group (2nd of 3) a score that ranks them with the other skaters...so a good skater who skates early (like Fumie) might normally get a 5.7 or 5.8 if she skated in the last group, but here, she got a score that put her on top of the others.

that was excellent! I haven't recently seen her skate quite so well and I'm not a fan of her long program this season but i wish her the best.

I like her, too, but I am nervous... She needs to really get back in shape, just to make it to the Olympics next year. Let's see if Morozov can work miracles for her.

Beautiful skating! She should have been 4th in the short program and long program.

I don't see why people say she was screwed. Fumie landed 5 triples, Sasha landed 6. I personally felt 5th place was appropriate. Fumie's 'Moonlight Sonata' program was better than Sasha's 'Carmen' IMO, but Sasha skated very well after the fall. It was a slightly close call, but I would give Sasha the nod, and in no way was Fumie screwed here. Don't get me wrong - I love this program.

5.3 for presentation?!

I wish she'd get this level of performance back... She could go for an Olympic medal in 2010 if she could just get some of the "passion" back... I don't really like the avant garde programs she has been going for lately, particularly because she has moved us so much with programs like this one, Ave Maria, the Planets, and the program that won the 2003 GPF...

@USAGymnast Cohen deserved third in the short. Hughes deserved fourth. Sebestyn and Butryskaya didnt have the same quality of spins, choreography as Hughes. Butryksaya also cheated her jumps too.

Out of curiousity, how would you have the top 7 marked/placed after SP?

@metsdudenj Suguri was much better than Hughes in the short. Maybe better than Cohen.
