I’ve had this as my daily for just about 2 years. Simply put, it is the best newish car for the money on sale today. The car has handled everything - carrying people, large items (like IKEA furniture or a large freezer), snow, rain, dirt, and of course carving backroads in a “spirited” fashion. No understeer whatsoever, it’s shocking how balanced this car is. I recently moved cross country in late January, and drove this with a massive Thule box on top, and the majority of my clothes/possessions inside (even the summer tires!). With Blizzaks it can handle anything up to 12” of unplowed snow before getting stuck, and FWD just fine in any US city. It’s 2700lbs, so as light as an MX5 or S2K, being just as fun with way more practicality. And the power is more than OK... it feels way quicker than 197HP and 0-60 in 6.5... I’ve thought about trading for a Focus RS, STI, or Evo X one day, but just can’t do it. Don’t believe the extra payments would be worth it. I’d recommend the FiST to anyone. They are awesome!

Both of my sons have owned Fiesta STs, both in black, and they both loved them. My oldest son reluctantly sold his earlier this year. My younger son's 2014 ST is a little more worn out and needs some work. He just bought something new and the dealership didn't really want the ST, so that was our excuse. We are going to keep it and make it our hobby car. We will do minor upgrades, take it out when the weather is nice, and enjoy occasionally flogging it. There is a corner near us that is our "cliche corner", a right hand turn lane between two 80 km/hr roads, and the Fiesta can take it at surprisingly fast speeds. I remember Jeremy Clarkson saying that there were 5 spots on his drive to work for passing, but that he found a sixth when driving the ST. I'm looking forward to a bit of father/son/grandson bonding time working on and driving a car that we all really like. We will be tracking the progress and reviews of your upgrades to see if we want to try any of them.

The reason I bought a regular Fiesta SE was that the Fiesta ST in the showroom had a sticker price of $29k (and it was the only one in my entire city of 300K people). When I asked the dealership "what the heck?" they said they never sell them because a Focus ST was only a few grand more. For comparison, the SE cost me $20K out the door. The states had it made because the standard features there made it quite a reasonable price, Canada not so much (unless you really, really wanted a Fiesta ST). Same thing with the Focus RS - they cost as much as an S4 and more than an STI/Golf R. Never understood Ford's thinking.

Has a stage 1 map, lowered Mountune suspension which improved the ride marginally without losing the exciting handling, a resonator delete also helped with the pops nicely. All mild mods that keeps the original style of the car in tact. Could happily do more, but it’s close to perfect how it is. Car has 60000km on it and has only depreciated $8k in 7 years. But yea, not really a fast car in a straight line but it can haul it over the corners quite well! Even did put a intake and an exhaust on it for a bit more power and I really loved it! Sadly on 6/21/2021 I got T-boned and flipped over by a red light runner in my car that *CLEARLY* shows she had a red light for some time and I had a fresh green light. Both cars was a total loss... Another reason why investing money for some decent dashcams are very important. For the police report, apparently she had a green light as well and that's why she ran the red light. There was no follow up after her report. She didn't get tested or anything but I had to sit in the hospital for my (Minor) injuries. People are fucking dumb.

Also as a FiST owner myself, take out the little "Mounts" that the rear shelf floats on top of! One 10mm bolt on each side and then drop the floor on top of the spare! It'll sit mostly flush but with it low I've been able to have my hockey bag in it with no hassle since it's nice and low now. Extra points for the box test! Also I really HATE the failed Visor Test and have since I bought mine in '16. @@turbochoochoo not really. Don't get me wrong, the Fiesta is fantastic, but the Type R is the pinnacle of front wheel drive. I look at my Type R every day and im glad I bought it. Focus ST Owner, Ford designed the modes the same in both STs, pretty much. Traction Control and ESC are shown by the Traction Control light (Car with wavy trail) blinking. You probably already knew that, just making a baseline. ESC helps keep the car from drifting by burst-braking individual wheels when it detects drift, Traction keeps the wheels from spinning out/tries to bring them out of spinout by reducing engine power. ESC Off button pressed once just turns off Traction Control. Held from on position shuts off both Traction Control and ESC. Unless you see the traction light blink in the gauge cluster, ESC isn't interfering. Torque Vectoring is not affected by this function, and always on. Oh, and as for those heated seats, as someone I know who owns a Fiesta once said: "it's either burning [butt] or no [butt] at all [in the winter]"

Hey Straight Pipes, regarding the terrible MyFordTouch infotainment system; I'm a '14 Fiesta ST owner (since new) and I swapped my MFT head unit for a Sync 3 head unit from a newer Fiesta. It's plug and play, you can even get GPS if the donor car was equipped with it. The only thing I was unable to get working is Android Auto/Carplay, but steering wheel controls, voice function, everything else works mint. I was able to get my Sync 3 head unit from LKQ for $135 USD, and takes about 10 min to swap, just need a Torx bit screwdriver. Congrats on picking up this gem, enjoy it!

Sport mode lets you have more wheel slip and traction loss etc before it kicks in, and it's overall less aggressive. Holding it in for ESC off turns it off. Torque vectoring (which uses the brakes) is always on unless you do some real messing with the car. I'd only worry about turning that off if you get a limited slip differential put in. Welcome to the club. I have an Orange Spice, with the recaros and sadly a sunroof (it was almost perfect; but it was on the lot and I wasn't THAT picky). It's such a riot. Easily one of the most fun cars I have ever driven.
