Personally I think that the "whats it like to drive?" should stay at the end. I thinks its important to understand and judge everything about a car beforehand and seeing the driving experience after to still see if a car is worthwhile. In saying that, great vid as always!

At 156k miles with my 2018 Fiesta ST. Driving perfection every mile. Absolutely incredible. I am always so happy driving this car for every second. It is irreplaceable. If you have one, cherish and keep it forever. If you get rid of it you will always regret it. I will just continue maintaining mine and replace the engine if I have to. There is no replacement. The Fiesta ST is driving perfection.

Maintenance costs alot of it covered by Ford: Purge valves failed several times getting carbon build up. Engine block cracked around 40k miles, replaced under warranty. Water pump leaked at 100k, all belts changed at 150k miles under premium maintenance plan. Alternator died a little after150k miles.

I truly fell in love with the car 100% when I found a set of perfect condition used Recaros. Now I have zero discomfort. I can drive all day in the same position, zero discomfort. Absolutely perfect! The Recaro seats were the the only think keeping the car from perfection. They should have been standard with the car, no options. So glad I found them! They saved the car for me!!!

I own a 2016 ST and they are epic. Instant torque and a go kart feel. A couple of points regarding 'What goes wrong'. The problem with the remote key not working is feature not a problem. If you don't use the car for a couple of weeks then the remote function turns off to save the cars battery. You just use the normal key and it's back to normal. Also, I understand that the dual mass flywheel can be troublesome but my car has been faultless.

@@johnososkalo4705I have had my 2014 for a little over a year. Since then, I have upgraded the intercooler, downpipe, catback exhaust, turbo (S280), BOV, custom tune, etc. It's pretty damn quick, enough to beat some heavier V8s and it's a BLAST. At roughly 94,000 miles on the clock, it is showing some age. I've got a leak(s?) and shifter feel has worsened slightly (possibly related to my leak). I've also got some brake shake which is likely somehow my fault as I've done rotors and pads all the way around somewhat recently. That said, this particular car has been through hell TWICE and still runs strong. If you were to leave it relatively stock, like a tune/intercooler/downpipe (maybe catback) with some interior goodies/exterior cosmetics, I have no doubt you'd have a reliable and extremely fun car for a long time with regular maintenance.

I've owned a 2015 ST since new. It's done 92000kms now. No issues whatsoever. Only one mod on the car - Mountune Springs. They actually make the ride much better than standard, especially when combined with Continental SportContact MC6 tyres, with no detriment to handling. My other car is a Cayman GT4, but I still love driving the ST. That said, the ST will be up for sale next year when my Civic Type R arrives.

I owned a Mk7 Fiesta ST for 5 years, and am now nearly 2 years into owning a Mk8. The old one was probably the most extraordinary value car imaginable. The driving experience felt so special, and gave me many, many memorable drives. The downsides? Well, the interior build quality was laughably bad. It did wear well, but it looked so badly put together. The Windscreen seal had a big wobble in it on one side, there was panel gap in the dash big enough to stick my pinky finger through, and the stereo constantly had issues with the Bluetooth connection. But, it was a cracking car to drive, albeit with an overly firm, bouncy ride. Upgrading to the Mk8, pretty much addressed all the issues with the Mk7. The interior is a HUGE step on in terms of build quality and overall feel, the ride is much better and doesn't suffer over uneven road like the old one, the stereo works, and the limited slip differential makes a huge difference. The seats are lower, too, but they're way less comfortable! One of my great frustrations is the fact that they base of the seats squash your hips, and make a long journey genuinely uncomfortable. But, totally agree with this review... Get a well-looked-after example, and you'll be in hot hatch heaven.

My fiesta had paint peeling issues on the roof and doors (paint was paper-thin). It’s pretty easy to swap Sync 3 (CarPlay/Android Auto) into a car with Sync 2 (touchscreen, no CarPlay). You need a sync 3 head unit and all cables are plug and play, but you need the usb hub in the glovebox which has a different plug so you need to cut and crimp the two power wires. Simple job with a $10 set of crimps

We've got one of these in the family, 2015 WZ Fiesta ST, 185,000km on the clock, owned it since new w/mountune options package ticked Did its first set of front pads/rotors at 112,000km Done an engine mount at that 112,000km/mark (just replaced all of them) Replaced gearbox oil at 170,000km service with 70W-75 fully synthetic (box started getting harder to shift, fixed problem, gearbox oil replacement not mentioned in service book) Replaced both driveshaft seals as one was leaking oil at 170,000km service, oil level of gearbox dropped causing above harder to shift problem Does 6.5L/100km all day every day even with beating on it flat out, ours cops a FLOGGING. Thats it, no other problems, its one of our family members daily drivers, went on a 4000km road trip over 12 days across VIC/NSW/QLD and ACT too. Wicked car, shame the absolute potatoes at Ford Australia decided to cull this and the Focus ST because of their fetish for shitty utes and SUVs.

2015 with 267,000km 100% stock, I’m the original owner. Most reliable vehicle I’ve ever had. The only issues I’ve had were… 1 - warranty stuck slider pin in the rear driver calliper (but tbh, I was ripping around snow covered parking lots and reefing on that e-brake like it owed me money) 2 - thought the blower motor failed, turned out to be a snow build up on the intake by the hood (sweep it off and there’s no issues) 3 - The AC might be getting a bit weak, I only noticed it this year 4 - I ended up swapping the seats with a fiesta titanium 10x more comfortable for long hauls 5 - the paint is chipping/rusting around the wheels but I had that “premium” 3M junk (I’m convinced that’s why there’s rusting) I just replaced the battery, timing belt (which looked brand new) and the water pump. I wanna hit 300,000km

I like the new graphic style implemented, but like with some of the others in the comments, I think it’s probably better to have the drive later, maybe halfway through right before what goes wrong, so we have a quick overview, a visual look, and the drive before the more nitty details. Would help with those looking for a quicker overview and those that are considering to buy are probably going to stick it out til the end anyways. Still waiting on the Odyssey review and maybe even a Getz one day, I see so many for sale online and they generally have far lower k’s for the money then their equivalent Yaris or Mazda 2, plus there is almost no professional reviews on them for more modern audiences. Plus it’s my current car. Keep up the good work guys, almost at 100k subs.

I think these cars look amazing.. the white and the blue look best IMO. But the 3 door look is one big reason why chose the fiesta over the focus but the main reason was because the fiesta is so much more playful and a lot more chuckable, you can really throw these cars around and they are so predictable you can have insane fun on the twisty tarmac.. corner after corner there is never enough corners because you're having so much fun. Plus the fiesta is no slouch, in stock form, it's less than a second slower to 100km/h than the focus.. but you got so much low down torque it's got enough power to have heaps of fun right out of the box IMO.

Great trainer because of the playful balance, communicative steering and braking, and the ability to have fun without doubling legal speeds and ending up in jail. I bought my Fiesta st 3 years ago brand new 2019 and have driven the crap out of it about 80 thousand miles. In saying so this car has not even come close to letting me down. The transmission is still sharp, the engine keeps asking me to floor it everytime i drive, the interior isn't the best but you think i bought this car because I want luxury? Hell no i wanted a fun little monster and thats what i got. The car isn't a drag strip car by any means but it is soo much fun to take off and go crazy from 0-60. I only have aesthetic mods and a 3' mbrp catback exhaust and the car pops and bangs at will and has not caused me any problems. It has been all oil changes and the key fob problem. So in conclusion, get one that was treated right, treat it right which is easy with the low maintenance costs and affordable economy car vibes, 93 premium gas with 32mpg, thrash it but also be kind to it and you will have a car to pass down to your kids. Thennn once i do that il get something else lol

Agree 100%. When I bought mine (new, 2017)... I was planning on an STI. Subaru rep pissed me off, so I decided to shop around. Car & Driver had 3 Ford's in their top Sports compact list (of 8 or 10 cars IIRC) that year. So I tried all three (and mustangs up to 50k, and Nismo Sentra/Juke, Veloster N) on the dealers Autox track. Out of all the cars I drove, the FiST put the biggest smile on my face (feeling that rear tire come up 😁). I was sad the Recaros (which look so nice) felt too snug (concave?) on my back. I would've gladly dropped another 10k+ on options (interior, performance etc.) had they been available. Even without, loved the car so much I swapped for a 19 when I heard they were being discontinued. ATF daily driver.

2017 Fiesta ST owner very lightly modded untuned with only 43k miles. Blend door went out very common.also all 3 turbo flange bolts backed out. Trans is great if you know how to use it. Its a performance trans it literally wants to be driven that way sloppy shifts get u punished with the grinder. Highly recommend trans fluid flushes with BG fluid big game changer. stay up on the fluid. I've owned it now for 5 almost 6 years and i would say the best upgrade is lighter wheels. don't wait to get lighter wheels do it first. Did Intake, Rmm and modified the exhaust that's it. I find the exhaust on these are hit or miss either good tone or really droned out. With it being a Daily driver well maintained (garaged) with low mileage I put a value of 17k/19k$. I do agree with the pass on highly modified ones It's insane to think how people beat the shit out of these soon to be classics. They do worthless body mods that ruin the look of it chop it up and rack up miles on this sweet little car. In the states there are only about 38/39k cars that were produced/released. Not shure in the UK. Overall an incredibly fun car that will be rare in 10 years, hard to beat, and worth far more than people think with low miles and untuned.

If you are considering one of these in the US get a 2016+ model. They support apple carplay and android auto. The harsh stock suspension can be fixed by replacing the stock struts with Koni Yellows or Oranges, the car will handle better and make your SO hate it less. Cooling was always an issue on these cars (mine would go into Limp mode anytime it was over 100, which is often in CA) a mishimoto or mountune radiator will completely alleviate those problems. Also you WILL have to replace the blend door actuator, mine shit the bed at 20k miles, yes you read that right, 20k. Get the Recaros, they are worth every penny. Despite those issues its probably the best drivers car I have ever had. I find myself opting to drive this instead of my 2003 mustang cobra quite frequently.

Ive loved mine, but defintely had plenty of issues. Throwout bearing went out at 75000 miles. Which is a subassembly with the slave cylinder and required to drop the front sub frame and replace flywheel and clutch. The coolant bypass valve has been replaced 4 times in 3 years. There is a purge valve issue, but once replaced, Ive had no issues with it since. Now my o2 sensors are going...but its 100k miles and its probably time to change some things. The A/C blend doors are plastic gears and break easily. Ive replaced 2 of the 3 so far. Still, its a joy to drive, and all cars will have issues. Its a machine made entirely of wear-out parts.

I own one, bought it new because they still make them in Europe. 😄 In Italy they all have LSD, you can't get one without the Performance Pack. I really wanted it, and I had to wait a lot (18 moths) to get it, but I'm really happy. I can *feel* the synchros can be problematic. Especially second gear can be crunchy on the way up if you abuse it without waiting to warm-up. I'm insanely OCD about my cars so I love that the little Fiesta has a oil temp indicator and I never gun it before it reaches the operating temp. On this latest model of the Fiesta I can see they cut some corners electronics wise. I'm assume because of the chip shortage. Like, bliss is not even an option. The touch mechanism that opens the doors always engages, even if the doors are already open. That doesn't happened on my mother's Fiesta from the previous gen. Some people prefers the analog dash, I personally love the big LCD screen that changes with the modes. Sport mode with the crackling exhaust is a heap of fun and grin inducing. 😁 The engine is supposed to have a little bit more torque but I never driven the old one so I can't compare. My previous car was a Mazda 6 2.2 TD with 180hp, and I'm amaze how this little 3 pots 1.5L TB can behave better than a much bigger TD on the low end. Before the Mazda I owned other hot hatches, Clio 16v (1.8L NA 135HP), Civic Type R EP3 (2.0 NA VTEC 200HP), Astra Turbo (2.0L TB 200HP) etc. The only one that even comes close to the ST is the EP3, which was as fun to drive but very spartan. The FiST is fun to drive while being a very good everyday runabout. The ride is firm but not harsh. I live in a hilly valley in Italy and roads are far form perfect. They pay you back by being stupid fun to drive on. 😉 Okay, I just blurted out some rando facts about my Fiesta. I doubt anyone will care though. Cheers 🍻! Edit: edited the Clio 16v HPs, I was remembering them wrong.

I've currently got a 2015 mk 7 Fiesta ST and love it but it's not perfect. On the reliability side of things, these engines especially when tuned can suffer from low speed pre-ignition causing engine damage and some of the causes are known to be using the wrong spec oil without lspi reduction properties, lugging the engine at highway speeds and high boost and using lower grade fuels. The interior while a big step up in features from my 06 Jazz still feels like a small cheap car and mine had a rattle in the A pillar at highway speeds. Also stock, the ride is terribly bouncy but I fixed that by just changing the rear shocks to standard non ST Fiesta aftermarket ones. Also going to slightly higher profile tyres helps. Also a stage 1 tune really wakes it up and gives you the traditional boost lag feel with everything all coming at once.

I owned a Focus ST about 10 years ago. Really fun car. My only complaint was how small the fuel tank was. It seemed like I was fueling up all the time. While it got decent fuel mileage, the small tank meant I fueled up about every 300 or so miles. Came with a 12 gallon tank here in the USA. Wish it would've had a 15 gallon tank.
@JulianKapa
@JulianKapa Жыл бұрын
That's 45.-something litres. The Fiesta ST, at least here in Australia, has at least 48 litres, probably a 50 litre tank. Even though Ford's spec sheet says it's less than that, I know it holds more than what they say because I fill up 45+ litres, even if the fuel light has just come on (with about 80km range left, I've never run it very low). I have filled up with 46.5 litres at least once too. I thought the pump was inaccurate and showing more fuel than I was getting but after being to several service stations it's been the same.

I got a five year old one, had new brakes and suspension, and a stage 2 with a 70mm exhaust, taking it upto around 250bhp. Its just slightly smaller than the focus, and even with the work done, was still cheaper than the focus ST. I had the 2litre ST back in 2007, and it was great fun to drive, the 17 plate one I have now....... amazing drive even with the torque steer

I owned a 2016, and 2019 Fiesta ST. I had to sell them because I couldn't control my enthusiasm for driving the car flat out. I just drove one again for old time sake. The salesman I talked to said he used to work for a Ford dealership. He had a guy drive in one day in a Porsche 911 turbo. He said he was looking for another less expensive car that he could just have fun with. He was considering the Focus RS, the Golf R, and the Fiesta ST. He could afford to buy all 3 if he wanted, he chose the Fiesta.

Here in the US, these cars were made in Mexico, and only available as a 5-door hatch. I would much prefer the 3-door like you're driving, but it's not a big deal. They did not sell well here, but "If you know, you know." This car made Road and Track's list of the 20 best cars they've ever driven. That list is populated by some very impressive cars. The only other Ford to make the list was the GT40.

I had a 2016 Focus ST I bought new... Traded in it for a 2017 Focus RS (which was re-engined with a 2018 engine and warrantied from Ford, or I would not have considered an RS)... Sold the RS a couple years ago. Bought a 2021 Mustang Mach 1 w/ Handling Package 1.5 years ago..... And now I'm eyeballing a Fiesta ST for a daily driver/fun winter car. I have a 2007 4Runner I've been using in the winter, but I miss rowing gears here November through March and the Mach 1 is a garage queen in the winter. Honestly I enjoyed the Focus ST more than the Focus RS overall. The RS was only fun for me if I was doing track or autocross driving and pushing it 8/10's or more. The Focus ST and just a 93 Oct tune from FSWerks was such a fun street car. It felt more engaging and violent than the RS and more fun as a result. Also the ST is generally more practical being FWD and better gas efficiency. If people prefer the Fiesta ST over the Focus, then I might as well give it a try. If nothing else it's cheaper, small and better MPG.

Current '16 owner. Bought new, had the Blend door actuator changed under warranty once, car needed new aftermarket Rear Engine Mount to stop the engine from hitting the firewall. If you live in hot climate, aftermarket radiator is a must as these will overheat. Also watch for the rust on hood, hatch and antenna area on the roof. Tune from Dizzy has been super safe and on the car for about 2 years as it doesnt go outside of Ford OEM parameters, the tuner has spend a lot of time perfecting it. If you want to go hard, the stock bottom end is good to about 320HP, with a lot of $ there are 400+hp fiestas that terrorize supras. IMO sweet spot for these is tire, wheel (smaller wheel gets rid of discomfort), RMM, IC, Plugs, Air filter and a Tune. this combo creates a great daily that will dominate autocross. Water pumps are not an issue on the Fiesta ST. Radiators, coolant reservoirs, slave cylinders, sticky brake slider pins, blend door actuators. Those are the issues these cars have. Oh, and the factory lug nuts suck

The only owner and 73500 miles on my 2016 fiesta ST! I’ve taken good care of mine. Regular services have been done. Strangely I’ve never gotten a recall notice on my car. My dad’s 2014 Ford fusion gets 1-2 per year it seems. The car is lots of fun to drive and if you have the Recarro seats it’s a true comfort to drive. So things my car does bad. Yea the clicking in the dash that was the first issue I noticed. Never bothered to get it fixed. I just tell people it the turbo charging up 😂. Sometimes my air condition will randomly turn on out of the blue. After every fillup the engine idle is all wacky for a few miles when stopped at a light. But most recently my master brake cylinder failed at 73000 and that was a costly repair. They are expected to last between 60-150k miles and mine didn’t get much past the minimum. Had to replace all the brakes, rotors, calipers and a part on the abs. So be warned. Last thing is the clutch needed to be bleed out because the pedal would stick to the floor sometimes and was slow to revert to decelerated position if held to long or pressed repeatingly. But the bleeding fixed that right up. In all I’ve had the car 7 years and only had the regular 5000 mile oil change. 2 new sets of tires now. Had to replace the battery this year for the first time. And the one hiccup thanks to the brake master cylinder. Car drives just as good now as the day I got it. I recommend. I wish there was a fiesta RS. I’d buy it.

Bought a '17 ST180 in Aus a few months ago for $21.5k (~65k k's), and I absolutely adore it. You completely forget about the harsh ride once you get to the twisties. The only mod I've done is a new exhaust and I'll probably get an intake in the future - unsure about lowering springs because the handling is perfect for me as it is. The creaking/rattling sound mentioned is often related to the passenger side transmission mount needing replacement, though I got my mounts all replaced recently and still get some creaking (albeit less). Might just need to break them in.

Once those dam suspension bushings go, replace them with the powerflex ones. Plus when your front shocks go, do not buy the Ford ones. I did and they are not the same as the ones that were fitted at the factory. Others are complaining online about it too, the suspension shop had a look for me and told me. They are all messed up and feel softer and they ruin the whole feel and handling of the car, like they have an extra bounce over bumps and everything, I didn't even want to drive the car it felt that bad. Ford laughed at me and said they can only do a parts warranty if the shocks are leaking 😡 I had to buy aftermarket suspension front and rear and still have the near brand new Ford shocks laying in the garage..

@s.baldrick3807 2 жыл бұрын
@@meganjay30 Noted on the bushings - for the struts, what model year is your ST? Heard that they revised the suspension a bit for '16 onwards, perhaps that's what the newer parts are? Reluctant to go for Coilovers because they're illegal in without getting them engineered - doubt I'll get pulled over, but I'd rather not get in trouble with my insurance.

@@s.baldrick3807 I think you are right about suspension revision. Mine needs new shocks also and from what I read it seems Bilstein B12 might be the sweet spot. Reminds me to get me Bilt Hamber double speed wax out....she looks so sexy in mirror black panther gloss as mine is also! Bought my FiST3, 66 plate this time last year with a mere 21,000 miles on the clock. Completely factory standard. Mint condition. She's my dream car & having owned her for a year by the 27th of this month we've been best buds. I get 40 mpg & experiencing minus temperatures during the UK's winter months, heated seats, heated wing mirrors & Fords quick clear windscreen is never not appreciated. I did notice that our (European) supplied FiST's are equipped slightly higher than elsewhere around the globe. Our Recaro seats have an esthetic "honeycomb" embossing on the grey upholstery & our rear lights were redesigned to incorporate LED stripes. For some reason the FiST's across the pond in the US are nowhere near the standards compared to what is found in the UK or Europe. At least from what i could see Australian FiST models are closer to the European & UK models rather than the poor examples over in the States. Good video...cheers mate👍

The FiST is actually the best of the three in terms of fun and value, hands down. I sold my Focus RS and bought a FiST and it was definitely an upgrade. The Focus cockpit was just awkward and the RS was just too serious and felt heavy/bulky. The FiST is nimble, toss-able and just feels way more fun, even if it is not as fast while still being plenty fast for public roads.

Don't get me wrong, the FoRS is a beast but just too serious and fast for public roads. The FiST on the other hand is nimble, fun, AND fast but without being reckless. The FiST has an indescribable X-Factor that few cars have. I also test drove the GTI, BRZ.86, Mustang 5.0, Elantra GT, and more. None of them even came close to the joy of driving the FiST gives.
