Fun Fabric Strip Flowers Using Fabric & Old Flower Stash
I was going through my flowers drawers looking for flowers to use on my Junk Your Stuff Journals (video in playlist) and I kept coming across these odd flowers that I don't use because I didn't really like them that much so I kept pushing them aside. I decided it was time to use them or get rid of them so I used them but turned them into something I liked by adding my twist to them. There is so much more you could do with them if you wanted to. I didn't make any grunge flowers but you could certainly grunge these up with paint and inks. Just try different things to make them more to your liking.

I was enjoying your tutorial so much, you sound like me, it's kinda weird. So clever and cute! I am really wanting to make junk journals for Christmas gifts! I do a lot of sewing but over the years I've bought lots of scrapbooking material, but I've never done anything with it. I love ripping material, I even have the fabric store rip my fabric if possible. lol... Anyway, I have a snake story also! Cleaning in my garage, I pulled my upright freezer out from the wall, walked over to get my broom, when I came back to sweep, a 5-6 ft long black snake was on the ledge. Oh boy! I don't kill anything like that either. I got my phone and took his picture, swept the floor, moved the freezer back. Voila' All is well! I will be watching your videos, I needed the inspiration! Keep up the good work. 😃🤗😎

Thanks Phoebe :-) Yes, I have a lot of tags ahead of me to make. I might work on a bunch of those when we skype art again. And I'll tell you a secret but don't tell anyone else lol....I didn't even keep ALL of the packaging. lol I kept the thicker stuff but the thinner ones I just thought...I can't keep it all..I have to have some light at the end of the tunnel so I didn't keep packaging that I COULD have used but it was thin and not as fun to use. And I still have a ton left and more to come as I go through things. lol She sounded like a little pig so now she's my Snorting Little Beagle Pig. lol You are welcome...I'm not keen on snakes either but not as afraid of them as some people. Alan saw a very dangerous one on his ride the other day. It was a Diamond Back Rattler and that's not one you mess with. I won't be sharing this story though. Thanks...I'm trying and I have more to get through but I'll make it if no major life things get in my way. :-) Thanks as always for watching and your comments. I appreciate you.

You're welcome. =) *LOL!* ok, I won't tell anyone. =) wow, that's impressive! =) That's a lot of packaging, which means you've been doing great on your mission to use your stuff. and yeah... I understand about not keeping it all. I hope to be able to Skype art soon... My plans keep getting interrupted. *LOL!* Well, your Snorting Little Beagle Pig, sure is loveable and adorable. =) *giggles* =) YIKES! I Hope Alan didn't get hurt by or because of that scary snake! ... To the best of my knowledge, here in Canada, there are no dangerous snakes.... but for some reason they still scare the crap out of me! ;) You're welcome, it's my pleasure. =)

I totally understand. No rush. :-) Stuff is going on around here all of the time lately it seems too. :-O Baylee says thank you. :-) No, he didn't but could have. I'll tell you about it in person if you want me to but it does involve a snake. lol I understand being scared of them but I'm glad most of them around here just want to be left alone and not bother anyone. It is very rare to see a poisonous snake around here. Mine too. :-)

*nods*. We'll manage one day, soon. ;) awe, you're welcome Baylee. =) I'm glad it's rare to see a poisonous snake... and I'm glad Alan is ok. (and yes, I'll want to hear the story).

I love this! I will often have "flower days" where I just die cut a bunch of flowers, curl the petals and sew buttons in the center, just so that I have a bunch of flowers ready when I need one. I never thought to use fabric, but this is perfect because I have had "ugly" fabric for years that would be perfect for flowers!!! Are these the flowers you made in 2014?
@BlackbearyForest
@BlackbearyForest 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. :-) Yes, it's such a great way to use up old flowers you don't like or fabric you don't like anymore. It just changes how it looks so much it's like new. lol The flowers in this video are flowers I made recently. The flowers I made in 2014 were in the Pockets & Posies video if I remember correctly. Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate it. :-)

I love the sound of ripped fabric. Weird I know. I also like the look of it. I loved making pompoms as a kid. I just love these fabric/silk/paper flowers you've made. You have such pretty brads. I don't see brads like that these days. Those must be one of the things you say you've had in your stash for 20 years. Or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. Anyways, I love these flowers & I can't wait to make some. Thanks for the inspiration.

Oh me too....I love to hear it rip and I love the look and all that stringy thread. lol It gets all over the room but oh well. My mom always had thread on her clothes so I guess I got it naturally. lol Yes, I have had some of those brads for years. I don't even remember where I got them. It was one of only a few places though. It was either The Scrapbook Superstore (near where I used to live), Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Joanns is a possibility but not likely. You are so welcome. I hope you make some. :-) I appreciate you watching. :-)

No worries. I thought I was answering a question you asked but maybe I misheard you-lol Brads must not be as popular these days as I don't see that many different varieties but they also aren't the 1st thing I look for either. I have regular multi-colored brads & they do for flower centers just fine. Have a great week.
@BlackbearyForest
@BlackbearyForest 7 жыл бұрын
Come to think of it I don't see brads like that either but like you I don't look that hard. Hmmmm lol I bet they are easier to get online. I agree with you....the multi colored ones are fine for flowers and buttons too or anything else I can get my hands on. lol So many things I thought I had to have to create with that I rarely use. I just didn't know at the time. But, we learn as we go. :-) You have a great week too. :-)

You could use buttons if you can't find the brads or glue decorative paper circles under "dragon tears" (looks like clear squashed glass marbles). You can find those in a dollar store around the floral/craft/candle section. Or bling jewels!

You are welcome. :-) I hope you enjoy it. I think it's a lot of fun. And it gives new life to stuff you have had a while. :-) You can do this with Aileens Tacky Glue or whatever liquid glue you normally use but it may take longer to set up. I get impatient and don't want to wait. lol I find the Helmar sets up pretty fast. You can also use Fabri-tac glue by Beacon. It works fast too but my bottle dried up so fast so I decided to try Helmar. I keep it upside down in a jar and it works great. :-)

@BlackbearyForest
@BlackbearyForest 7 жыл бұрын
I use all kinds of glue. Usually whatever is closest to me on the table. If I am using a dry glue I just use a glue stick and it doesn't really matter what brand. If I am using a wet glue I use Aleenes Tacky Glue, Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, Mod Podge or similar or sometimes Golden Matte Medium. It really depends on what I am doing. For these flowers I used the Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive.
