OC500LEs were requisitioned by LTA for Mandai package operated by TTS but those buses still had about 5 more years to serve when Mandai was awarded. If SMB takes in KUBs these have at most 3 more years.

The KUBs even after refurbishment, is best kept in its original SBST colours rather than lush green, its because those buses are owned exclusively by SBST itself and not transferred to other operators under LTA.

The abridged version is that the Scania KUBs are the property of SBST, not LTA itself. Plus, the KUBs are nearly at the end of their lifespan, especially the Euro IV ones, having been registered for service since 2008. Since the Euro IV standard is already considered outdated, there is no reason to repaint the KUBs lush green, since it runs contrary to the "green" image being presented. As the KUBs belong to SBST, this is why they can afford "low ball" bids, and some of the KUBs have been assigned to Seletar and Ulu Pandan Depot to supplement the BCM fleet that SBST has acquired to operate routes in these packages. However, this is where I see a potential problem in the future, cause as mentioned, the KUBs are due for full retirement by the end of 2026. At present, there are still at least a thousand KUBs in revenue service which have to replaced, but LTA seems to be dragging their feet with deciding the bus model to replace them, cause from what I heard, the trials for some of these demonstrators have not exactly been peachy. Worst case scenario, which I fear may happen if this dawdling keeps up, is that more bus routes would be axed, with "lack of fleet size" being the reason for doing so.

Either the KUBs would be retired or reassigned to other depots. Since the KUBs belong to SBST themselves, they can decide which depots needed the deployments, assuming the KUBs are not going to be prematurely retired.
