5:16 The phrase "กินข้าวรึยัง?" direct translate to "Are you eat some rice yet?" But the meaning is "Have you eaten anything yet?", It's phrase for invite people to join a meal and have conversation together. My thai friend and his family say a lot when I met them.

Insects are not typical Thai food and are consumed by some groups of ppl that adore them. Even so, they NEVER eat cockroaches as its toxic and dirty. Think you might confused with crickets or true bugs from the paddy fields.

At 7:23 Westerner's always thought It's Cockroaches but this insect are found only in this region including with south island in Japan & New Guinea. it's Giant Water Bug which classified as edible insect. Female has more meat and its eggs are yummy. Steaming cook is the best solution. Male is more expensive cause it creates fragrance while making sauce or paste. FYI

Sorry to be picky but narrator can say Thailand but messes up “Thais”. Never heard them called Thays before.

Important: Deep Fried Cockroach is incorrect. It is Deep Fried True Bug. As a Thai people, I never seen and heard Thai eat deep fried cockroach.

cockroach NEVER been a ‘popular’ snack. Some of us eat ‘bugs’ but not cockroach the pic you show is ‘cricket’ , it may be some ‘exotic’ foods in some country but not in Thailand. and some eat because they are cheap and give lot of protein, some eat because of curiosity, spook their friends, bravery challenge etc. but it’s not that ‘hits’

Never saw cockroaches as food at all. Plenty of other insects

A fascinating country, but that's not worth it to travel in a country where people don't want to learn English for tourist’s sake. The 7th reason is the reason which make me discouraged to go to Thailand . Of course i wouldn't expect everyone to speak English but Thai is too insanely hard. guess it's just a country where i should stay in the touristic places for a shorter trip. if i stayed longer, i cannot bear the fact to be alone for too long.

Oh wow you’re really missing out. I’ve been to Thailand twice and going for the 3rd time next week. I don’t speak any Thai but I’ve managed just fine. I didn’t even think about them not speaking English until I read your comment cause somehow almost everyone I came across there spoke at least a little English. I never even had to use my phone translating tool. I’ve been to Bangkok, Chiangmai, Chiangrai, Krabi and Phuket.
