Tips to all travellers to avoid scams : Just ignore whoever approaches or wants to talk to you offering cheap service (bear in mind nothing is free or cheap)...if anyone wants any help on direction pls go to the tourist police...if scammers insist on giving you service. Just let them know that you are recording their conversations...then you gonna send the recordings to police...that will scare them off...

Simple advice. When exiting a popular entertainment/night spot and needing a taxi, do NOT take a taxi from the exit area but walk a bit away and flag down a moving taxi. Always have small money in hand as many taxi drivers will say they cannot break a Bht.1,000 note.

Thx for the video. let a local add some tips. 1.For transportations use BTS or MRT. For Taxi use Grab all the time. Avoid rush hour, you will always get a car with in a few minutes. For rush hour. Plan your trip in advance. Book a ride day before. note:Taxi have to use the meter for every single ride. It's illegal to not use it. To deny any ride also illegal. You can collect the evidences and complain to the police. The taxi will get fine 1000+ baht and/or license suspended for a month. For Tuktuk. Pray before get a ride. 2. Every single penny for a beggar, You are supporting human trafficking. 99% of them came from a neighbor country run by local mafias. 3. Every shops or food stalls have to show the price tags. It's illegal to not show the price tag. Avoid any place that not price tags. Avoid any bar or restaurant which is open but very few people in it when compare the surround places. Something fishy is going on.

I was in Thailand over the last 2 weeks and in my time in Bangkok I experienced the most scams 😂😂 I only went for 1 where we were sold 2 extra large juice for 200 baht. We definitely didn’t need to pay that much but we were tired and hot and had just came out of a tour at the Grand Palace. Another common scam was the floating market and temple tour on a long boat. Even though I didn’t a friend if mine fell for this scam and basically paid 1000 baht for a man walking up to the boat and trying to sell her figurines. Do yourself a favour and research before. I used google maps to get to all the places I wanted to go to I had no issues with signal or anything. Another scam is the Tuk Tuk drivers coming to you as you get off the ferry at the grand palace that the palace and Wat Pho are closed for prayer so rather go with them to see another temple. No they are open from 8:30/9 until 3:30/ 4pm I think. Just ignore rather ask google or follow the signs.

please explain what happens in these two scams.
@davee.4847 Жыл бұрын
@@goumuk we actually experienced the Jetski scam on our 10 day trip to Thailand 2 weeks ago. We rented Jetskis on the Samae Beach on Ko Lan island close to Pattaya. After 40 minutes my engine went off because it had not enough fuel. But much crazier was my friends Jetski, which just started filling with water and sinking down. After the owners picked us up from the water, they wanted 10.000 Baht from my friend, claiming he had damaged the Jetski because it sank and filled with water. After we refused to pay they called the police, which made my friend panic since he has heard a lot about corrupt police. He then managed to negotiate with them and eventually paid 5.000 Baht and left. Interestingly enough we were actually 9 people, 5 germans and 4 Thais, but they still pulled this scam through.
Had a great visit to Thailand 4 years ago, met some wonderful friendly people. Airport Taxi was a nightmare, bit of a wreck, was on a meter but the driver could hardly see, took ages to find the hotel, round and round in circles but eventually found it at my cost. May be I was overcharged in a Tuk Tuk at Chiang Mai but it was probably only a couple of pounds over so no great deal. Budget hotels were more than adequate and the street food was brilliant, going again soon so now know some of the scams which happen in all touristy places. You just have to be alert and halve the price they quote you as a barter start point, sawatdee krap.

Talk about scams ! Take time to read this.Long story but i will keep it short I have visited Pattaya many times over the years . In 2006 I decided to buy a place to retire ,around Pattaya. My biggest mistake was walking into Kensington Realty in Walking street. it was "owned" by a guy called Trevor Antill from the UK. Very plausible and very helpful . Being a trusting person at that time (my whole attitude to people has changed since then,) I believed he was genuine. He introduced me to a Lawyer (part of the scam) and got me set up with a bank account. On numerous visits there he sorted me out with a plot of land just outside Pattaya. I purchased one. I found out later, He sold the same plots to many people .He started building a perimeter wall and some earthworks,but it never moved very quickly.Being frustrated with progress in 2007 I was recommended a builder by a Thai colleague I worked with in Kuwait. When we visited the site one of the locals sent for Antill and when he was told it was going to be finished by the builder as he was taking too long he offered my money back. That night he left Pattaya and that was the last I saw of him. I visited a Lawyer in Bangkok recommended by the Embassy only to find the deeds for the land were fake .I found an article after a bit of research , in the Pattaya Times that had a photo of him in chains having been arrested in 2005 for the same thing making over £2,000,000 which he sent back to his son in the UK. Never went to prison and restarted the business in Pattaya in 2006.Why did he not go to prison.......well that does not take much working out?. I lost £100,000 and my retirement plans ended. Antill conned Japanese, Australian,Russian, New Zealand , Dutch and many more. I believe he fled to Chang Mai . Thailand is full of crooks and scammers and justice leaves a lot to be desired, Never returned since.

Here is a couple of little tips for anyone coming to Thailand. If you are planning to get your money changed in Bangkok Airport, head to the departures side. 37.5 baht in arrivals, 40.2 in departures. Also if you take £50 notes, you will get a slightly better exchange rate. I have no idea why, but my girlfriend got a better rate with her specifically brought 50's

Yes but this vdo is a must to watch and follow to avoid being scammed. 1991 on my first day I was cheated painfully at the King’s palace but at the same time I got the best lesson for my life to use my senses when a stranger is offering me a ‘nice deal’.

In regards to taxi meter, would the driver make detours in order to charge more?
@match20x2 жыл бұрын
OMG that was our experience in Bangkok recently. We stayed near MBK and the hotel employee hailed a taxi for us to go to Platinum Mall. We've taken the taxi a couple times to Central World for about 50B no problem and Platinum is further down. Anyway the driver says a bunch of stuff then "traffic" so okay. My husband was following google maps and before we knew it he took a turn toward the opposite direction. Detour - i get it. But he kept going and going then jumped on highway and never looped back! Like how far out was he going. I showed him google map and of course we didnt understand a word. So we said stop and it cost us 60B - THE WHOLE TIME IT WAS METERED! At this point, we have no clue where we're at...and despite having the meter, each of the 6 taxis that stopped threw us once we said Plantinum - 150B, 300B, 200B; 250B. We eventually accepted the 250B and the driver never turned on his meter but did ask why we were where we were. 🤦🏻♀️ So we were out $5US...not major for a scam but the experience of it all. I still enjoy Thailand and the next time will be trip #5. 🇹🇭

@@match20x it must have been a harrowing experience for you. When they want to scam you, there’s always a way.
So interesting fact, don't look at your videos when husband is around. He though Ping Pong Shows was actually ping pong game, now I had to look up exactly what Ping Pong Shows meant and then explain it both to husband and older brother >.

I dont know if you are aware, but almost all of the beggars (especially in sukumwit ) who are holding a baby are not their real mothers, the babies are rented out and the beggars are all dropped off to their begging spot in the morning by mini van by their boss.
@πατριωτικός2 жыл бұрын
And most of these beggars are from neighboring countries, I don't understand why the government still allows these people to sit and beg. Because this is a form of human trafficking.
@davidhodgson9772 жыл бұрын
@@πατριωτικός a lot of these beggers come from Vietnam. My wife knows because her family came to Thailand from there when she was a very young girl and she can tell the difference.

These are only minor scams. Where are the other scams? Drugging drinks and relieving a tourist of everything they own. The diamond scam (which cost my sister about $5k). The scams in this video are very minor - you may lose a few dollars.

Will go to BKK in November, thank you very much for this very informative video. Of course we all know about the Tuk Tuk and Taxi scam and am surprised people still fall for them. But one question about the beggars: I heard about a scam that´s running in India (probably not only there). You give these people food and something to drink and they go back to the shop and claim the money back. Have you heard about that from Thailand too? I mean, it´s not really a scam yet I would feel scammed though. I also heard about the billing scam in the bars, adding bills to your glass. What would happen if I would pay each and every single drink?

It looks like you are filming your first clip at the Grand Palace, home of the Emerald Buddha. Wat Pho and Wat Arun face each other across the Chao Praya River upstream. The ferry costs 2 baht. Chiang Mai seems much more chill.
