I love you different styles. The top-middle, bottom-middle and right are especially interesting. Love that you just sit down with paper and paints to come up with these out of your imagination! ❤

Thanks! I think there's a scary stage after starting each where you wonder how the heck to make this OK?!

Good morning Helen , there us nothing nicer than sitting with some blank paper and a few paints and allowing your mind to wander , this video is lovely to watch . What a treat to be using Arches Cold Pressed paper as well , a bit pricey but worth every penny in my opinion , thank you Helen . Mike in Exeter xx

I love both the top middle and bottom middle pictures best, a traditional landscape and a beautiful pink fabric-like image. Seeing you work through all the paintings was wonderful, with all the different results; I really enjoyed watching all of the paintings. Keep up the wonderful work!

Hi Helen - I loved seeing you create each of these mini paintings and you have inspired me to have my own play at some. I loved the little house and the landscape next to it with the red flowers in the field the best but they are all wonderful! I hope you are feeling better.

What a fun page! I love doing little play sessions like this, love having a stress-free time where I’m not aiming for a “perfect” landscape or something. Today is a holiday and I took some time this morning to do a gouache tutorial, but this afternoon, I fiddled around with watercolour in my sketchbook. Super relaxing.

This looks like a fun exercise, I like all the different styles and a such a good idea, dividing the page up so it’s less daunting. Your stylised little white house reminds me a lot of Natasha Newton and I really love the top middle loose landscape and bottom right loose seascape😍

Dividing the paper into smaller parts is a great idea. I’ve done it for rough work. I should try it for small neat paintings.

It seems like you are exploring more colour options now that you have the new palettes. I enjoyed the second half of the book “Landscape in ink and coloured pencil” by Helen Hanson. I’m adapting her technique to my messier style and I’m enjoying it.

Noticed your words about soft pastels and wanted to make a suggestion to go take a look at Felicity House and her art. She mixes watercolour with soft pastel on top, I just love her way of expressing her art.
