I don't usually watch unboxing videos - I do not need any additional temptation. But figured you could "keep me company" while I sew. I enjoy hearing your voice. Hope today is going well for you.

Thank you!! Yeah unboxings are not for every one, and I understand not wanted the temptation. Believe me! I like to show what I get and how I'm planning to use it in future projects. My day is pretty good. The weather is beautiful and I did get some containers moved around for the garden this year. And working on videos. It's busy for sure! Not nearly enough sewing time.

When I first moved to the Hampton Road area, I lived in Chesapeake. We would go to the Pungo area near Virginia Beach where they had strawberry farms that we were able to pick our own strawberries. Such nice country in that area.... so much so that I would have never believed it was Virginia Beach. Thanks for all you do!

Oh hey neighbor!! Yes, I love Pungo! I live in London Bridge close to the Hunt Club and there are still some fields left over here, but not too many. The Pungo area is my favorite part of the city and farms provide so much fresh food to the community it's amazing! Thank you for watching!

Love your new fabrics. Strawberries for kitchen curtains are perfect. I’m with you; it would make a beautiful back for your quilt, but an even more beautiful curtain because you can enjoy it every single day! I’d love to see the strawberry from The Stash with the orange from Ruby Star! Wow, beautiful collections and I’m anxious to see what you’re making with them. Totally different subject…I’m making the stuffed Christmas Tree you did a video on a couple of years ago. I’m using some very vintage fabric that is a base golden tan color with muted rose and olive tiny flowers in it. And some very tiny stripes that are the rose color. I love this fabric and am enjoying this project! The most exciting thing?…You’re Back! Yay! I know you’ve been so busy what, with your home flooded, your gardens this summer and fall harvest, but I personally have missed your sewing adventures. I love all of your videos and look forward to your emails! Merry Christmas and best wishes for a wonderful New Year! 🎄❤🎄❤🎄

Oh my gosh, Jodie! Thank you so much!! I have all of my little fabric trees out too!! I love that project so much. That and the Christmas Tree napkins are favorite projects of mine. Your version sounds just darling! I'm so ready to be back!! It's been one challenge after another this year. But now I'm getting the house back together and I want to carve out time for me now. Time to take care of myself better and time to work on a regular basis. I have so many ideas and plans and it's extremely frustrating to be stuck washing dishes or cleaning bathrooms or going to doctor's appointments constantly. I'm going to try and find some help for myself around here this year including someone to relieve me with mom some every week. That's getting to be a lot on me and I've let my own health go down hill really bad. That was part of my absence this year. I haven't been well. I'm still not 100% but I'm looking for ways to simplify things and spend less time on drudgery and more time on health and working...which is fun and therapeutic for me. And I REALLY miss sewing! I have barely sewn a thing since last June when I completed the strawberry quilt top. It's way too long. Merry Christmas to you and Happy new Year!

Not really a Ruby Star fan but the FQS haul of half yards is beautiful! Love the blues and berries!

I totally get that! It's a very specific taste for sure. I personally love them, and the way they mix hue and create color is so good. This Sugar line is so great because it's almost like using a solid, and in so many ways, using solids are bit easier to combine. I love the panel I'm going to use and I didn't want all those illustrations to compete so heavily with prints as shown in the sample. There are so many personal and creative choices we can make in quilting and for me that is the biggest joy!

I’m finally learning that buying yardage of fabric I love and not getting the coordinating prints is almost always a mistake. I end up searching for things to go with it and then it gets destashed. I pay more in the long run but I don’t seem to be able to remember that!
@PattymacMakes Жыл бұрын
Yeah shopping as a quilter is different than shopping for garment making. You only need one print for a top or skirt, but a quilt takes several pieces to complete a design. I have to stop short constantly from buying different cuts of yardage with no real plan. It just sits there for years. Now I do my best to only purchase when I have at least a rough idea of what I'm going to do with something. Even now I have a cart of stuff with a 20% coupon, and it's all randoms cuts of yardage. But OMG it's so pretty! LOL

Thank you sooo much Helen! It's been a super challenging year for me so I'm working now on simplifying some things in my life. I have to streamline things to give me the time to take care of myself and to work on a regular basis. I miss sewing!

Hi from another Chesapeake neighbor. I love the fabrics you got. So beautiful and yes they do pop! So sorry to hear about all your water damage.
@PattymacMakes Жыл бұрын
Oh thanks Victoria!! It's put back together now!! And was able to do a couple of pretty big repairs that would not have otherwise been completed so it's been a huge blessing. More repairs coming but I needed a break from all the workmen in here coming and going.

I quite like that chartreuse green/gold/yellow too. I’m thinking it was more 60’s or 70’s. Nowadays, I’ve heard it called acid green. I did not know your house flooded! I need to hear that story 😮

I LOVE that color!! Maybe it makes the rounds very few decades. LOL Oh yeah, I left a tub running and made HUGE mess. It was incredibly stressful, and honestly, I'm still recovering from it. But coming home to a finished and clean house is just amazing!

Thank you!! I'm so excited about starting on it. Which is crazy because I still have two quilt tops to completely finish first, but I'm going to make a couple of stars to see how they look because I just have to see a couple!

I love the strawberry fabric. I don’t think I could use it for backing either. I love orange too.
@PattymacMakes Жыл бұрын
Oh gosh!! I KNOW!! I understand why quilt shops and designers use the good fabric for backing, but I have trouble justifying it. It does look beautiful, and I understand they are trying to sell more fabric in a line, but even on sale, it's challenging for me to purchase 5 yards or more to put on the backside of a quilt except in rare situations. I never thought of myself as "an orange person" but I really like it in projects. I guess I'm just a color person as opposed to a neutrals person and gravitate towards bright color in general.
@cathylombard964 Жыл бұрын
@@PattymacMakes I have always loved orange. I had an orange winter coat in high school. I also love color.

Oh that's a great tactic! I've been using snuggle flannel from Joann on sale. I like the feeling of it and it's pretyt inexpensive. Yeah, I think cafe curtains and a valance in the kitchen from the strawberries will be darling! And cheerful!
