The top part of the 10 meter amateur radio band can be a fun place to hang out. When the propagation is good at least.

I got a 10m FM rig from a SK estate for $10.00. I’ve only been licensed for a few years and never played around on 10m FM before. I hooked the radio up and dialed in 29.600 simplex and sent out a CQ with all 10watts it would produce. First contact took 2 calls and came back from Texas. My QTH is British Columbia. Wasn’t expecting that.

Great to hear! Yes, lot of surprises on that band and mode, sometimes you get nothing and sometimes by putting out a call you might be surprised by a strong signal coming back. And if you can just leave your radio on and monitor you will usually hear something once in a while. 73 and have fun with radio!

Love it! Yep, 10m AM/FM is a blast. I remember back in the ‘80s when I was living in the Chicago area, I was on my way home from work at about 3:45 pm or so, and called CQ on a 10m simplex frequency. Much to my surprise, a JA station immediately answered me; he was full quieting into my mobile station, and I was likewise full quieting there. I think I was running about 35W or so, with a Clear Channel rig into probably a K-40 or Wilson 1000 antenna. I also enjoyed many AM contacts as well years ago, mostly from a fixed station. I really need to get back on 10m ‘phone. 73

Not heard any FM on 10. I keep listening to it, as it used to be good. In the past. Here in UK. Have worked JA and Israel 59plus both ways with 4watts of FM. So far little heard apart from CW and FT8.

Hi my friend! ☺️. Great to see you. 10m FM is very fun to do. There's a good 10m repeater in Canada...Ontario I think. It's 29.640 mhz with 100 hz tone. I hope you and your family are doing well. Been busy here but doing good. 73 my friend

I like working AM and FM simplex from time to time. Got a Chameleon Lite Tactical Dipole 160-6m that I use. That antenna is resonate on the 10m band. On 29.600, I get a SWR of 1.1:1 running 100w. Worked France, Jamaica and Mexico on FM simplex. AM is a bit of a challenge to work with 25w on the IC-7300, but early in the morning one might catch some European contacts in the AM portion of the band. The best contact I got while working AM was to Italy from my QTH here in Tennessee.

10 Meter FM has been really hopping as of late. It seems like it is open on most days, just not heavily utilized. I worked XE2LVM in Mexico, and also Arizona, from here in Kentucky, all on 29.600. My radio is a President Ronald 10 meter transceiver, running about 40 Watts into a Wilson 2000 on the trunk of my Camry. I usually have my police scanner on, monitoring 29.600 during the daytime, when I am at home. If you hear me calling on 29.600 FM, give me a shout! 73, DE KU4UV

Really enjoyed this video Sir, just learning more about the hobby. Really like your Icom IC-7300, do you feel you will ever upgrade to the IC9700 or does the 7300 meet your expectations. Feedback would be appreciated.
@RadioHamGuy6 ай бұрын
Well thank you very much. For now I am very happy with the 7300 so I don't plan on changing anytime soon since it does everything I want it to and is very easy to navigate and do what I want quicky if I need to change settings. It is also very easy to move around if need be. I love it so far.
