This was really helpful information for me because i built a cowboy bathtub out of an ibc container and made a propane water heater out of a propane heater and a radiator, now i was wondering how to pump the water without investing in an expensive water pump, but i wasn't sure what sprt of flow these have. Clearly this is ample flow and i think i can buy these on Amaz for $20. Thanks for the vid friend. I love experimenting and gathering information for future projects! :)

@@enriquesalgadoaceves9017 I suppose yes, if the pump is in a reasonably ventilated area, and for evenbetter cooling pop the coils cover off and drill some holes around and around, so as the coils heat up, it heats the air around it, and hot air is lighter that cold air or at least if that air is hotter than sorruinding air. As the hot air rises up, the colder ambient air will be sucked in the coils compartment, heat and rise, thus maintaining the coil temperature. If you have a broken dishwasher, they have some pretty powerful pumps specifically the circulating pump. All though, sometimes, you get unlucky and the pump will have a lot of holes everywhere, making it hard to reuse. Sometimes you get lucky that the pump will have one inlet and one outlet.

how did you wire it to electricty? Any way to power it off 12 volt?

Both yes and no. These use a typical AC induction motor. Now these are usually meant for the 120/220v depending on where are you from (US or EU). But, if you are patient enough you can rewind them so they are suited for 12V. So to answer your original question: Can they be powered off of 12v? Yes. Can they be powered off of DC 12V? No. In the end, i don't think it's worth it putting in time and effort to make it run on 12v dc, you are much better off buying a cheap pump suited for 12v.

The whole point for these is to get the real deal and not those crappy 12v. So I don't understand your question...

@@lazar2175 obviously DC just won't cut it here. It is good as is in the original cd (wall) power, cuz 12v AC is not that easy to obtain, probably the cheapest way is via an iron core transformer. That is inefficient and you need a huge amount of current and some thick copper cable for a really strong magnetic field, and even that, the wire will melt the plastic parts all around cuz of the high current flow. And those pumps are synchronous pumps not induction motor.

@@omarrama92 I've explained this in my comment, that these will not run on DC. I think the idea was to make a pump like this portable hence the 12V adaptation idea, so ferrous core transformer wouldn't cut it either, why'd you convert it down to 12v if you had access to mains voltage. You could run this type of motor on some kind of a inverter tho, or possibly (?) on square wave DC. Have not tried the square wave one, but it should work, just not as good as sine wave. Also, these are nearly always asynchronous/induction motors, do you realize how expensive would it be to put a synchronous motor in a washing machine pump? And finally, as I've said, it's always going to be cheaper to get a simple DC water pump instead of Jerry-rigging this one to work. You can get a pump with similar flow rate for under $20
