How fun are those! The Santorini stone made me think of the tie dyed t-shirts we use to make in the 70's. I love how you embellished them....you are so creative. Can't wait for the next one 😊

So cool: like tie dye for rocks!! I have used sharpie markers with alcohol on canvas and it makes it looks like watercolor. Thank you for sharing, I would not think of this for rocks but it is lovely and fun. Always GLITTER!

Use a if Kry lon Uv resistant clear of uv archival to sealed and then resin it. If you don't the alcohol colors will fade in the sun . Then you can resin. also use 91%or higher alcohol as 70% has water that will leave spots on you art work. I haven't used rocks yet for alcohol ink but I'm going to try it. Thanks

If you can get Krylon Kamar spray it will act as a barrier between the resin (or a UV resistant sealer). It will not smear the inks when it is applied.

Great Rachel! Good thing I won some money at the casino! Everytime you bring in different materials to work with I am like a moth to the flame! LOL Simply Gorgeous 💜💜 I have seen where people work with molds and use just resin and add the inks.. so, pretty. Can't go wrong, I can see no mistakes. Like you said, everyone of them will be different like snowflakes. More please!!!!❣

I put my inks in small jars so I can use a small paint brush to control the amount of ink. And I use q-tips to soak up flooded spots or muddy dark areas. These are amazing!

You can make alcohol ink with sharpies and alcohol. Very easy - I made 10 bottles for about $10 (cost of the alcohol, bottles and sharpies). Just sayin' :)

I've been using alcohol inks for a long time now and so have 2 tips for you. Rubbing alcohol works (although I would suggest the 99% instead of the 70 as others have suggested as well), but Ranger Blending Solution works better. It's more expensive but I think is worth it. Also, if you want to avoid hard lines in your blending, try putting a little blending solution on your rock before adding the colour. To move your ink around, you can also use a puffer, however totally good to use a straw. Love your rocks!! I'm a fan.

Also, the more non porous your “canvas” is the easier it is to get the inks to flow. Santorini rocks are perfect for alcohol inks.

Where do you buy/get your Santorini Rocks from? They are gorgeous and oh so sparkly!
@carolbrown55163 жыл бұрын
Oops, just one more tip...using 91% alcohol (if you can even get it) 🙄 plays better with alcohol inks. 70% is just that, the 30% is water.

Wow!!! Simply amazing. How did you print the "you are enough"? Cricut? I would love to see how that is done too as I am still new to the cricut world. As always kisses and well wishes from Toronto ❤😘

Love Love Love...... question though.... why do you do resin between the ink and the design? I totally get modpodge and uv spray.
@rachelsrockscanada3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!🥰 The ink tends to bleed right through my painting, and so to make sure none of that was going to happen I resined it to seal all of that ink. I have had ink bleed through mod podge before in the past. So basically I just want to keep all of that colour where it is and be able to work on top of it.

I noticed you put the ink on, and then use your brush with... rubbing alcohol? Can you explain why you use the alcohol?? It's SO vibrant and colorful!

do you use a primer underneath besides white paint? ive been having spots of the ink not sticking and almost bleaching out the color with the white showing through. Not sure what im doing wrong.
