I've honestly never heard of an N64 not working due to the cartridge slot being dirty. Some games may need cleaning here 24 years later in 2020 but during the life of the system you wouldn't have needed to clean the games unless you lived either somewhere really filthy or just really dusty.

Those cleaning kits were worth it for the warranty alone. I used to manage a funcoland store and I can tell you that the 1 year warranty on all games purchased with in that year was worth it. The kits were 19.99 at most, and for that ALL purchases for that system were covered. I wish that they had never been sold to Gamestop. As a manager with that company I had the power to do whatever it took to make a customer happy. With gamestop they seem to be all about screwing the customer out of every penny they can.

All of this nonsense with steps, procedures, acronyms, corporate greed and bullshit is what killed the retail industry. People don't want to be pressured into buying a shitty magazine and a cleaning kit when all they want is a game. This is why Amazon owns.

@HerecomestheCalavera

@@andreww1212 It is so stupid that corporate thinks the employees can actually make people buy all that extra garbage. If people aren't buying enough cleaning kits or magazine subscriptions it isn't because they don't want that trash it is because you as an employee aren't trying hard enough. People will buy what they want to buy, no worker is going to force them into something they want. If they try that they are likely to put the game back they came to buy and go get it from a different store. All the employee needs to do as far as customer service is concerned is say "Hey can I help you find anything" and if the person says "I'm just looking" then all they need to say is "Ok if you need anything let me know" People like that much more than a pushy salesmen following them around the store pestering them the whole time to buy stupid shit that they don't want or need.

Mostly because my manager was the biggest jag that ever walked the earth. That was 20 years ago and yet when I walk into a gamestop today I still hear employees bitching about the same stuff that we went through. The job was nothing like I thought is was going to be. when he said that you should clean the game very time you take it out, I dont agree with that. I have a N64 and Ive never used a game cleaning periferal. Sad that Funcoland went out of business and got transformed to Gamestop :(.
