Great Video! I'm looking for why the voltage doubles in many sites. It is clear to me now. Thank You.

Underrated video! Our professor did not teach us this, they expect us to figure it out on our own. appreciate it!

EXCELLENT Video. Thank you for posting it.

Thank you for this . though, I've been looking all over to see a function generator and an oscilloscope together used in an actual Diagnostics and repair of a board
@HTMWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Well most of the time you need either one or the other - I don't know of many cases where you would use both at the same time to troubleshoot a board. Usually the board creates the signal and you would measure with a meter or scope. Or you have to trigger something with the generator (that is definitely more rare)

@@HTMWorkshop I see, thank you for your reply. I thought function generators are used in tandem with oscilloscope for Diagnostic. I would love to see how function generator is used in an actual repair or diagnostic work.

@@AB-yu2tj Let me know if you find a service manual that uses those two in combo - would love to know of a real life example where that is used.

@@HTMWorkshop I think you might have misunderstood my comment. I take your word for it that they're not used together. But I still would love to see function generators used in an actual repair. Though, before I come across a video that uses both in a diagnostic will shoot it over

@@AB-yu2tj Yes I did misunderstand you - Anything that is analyzing a signal or or uses a sensor could be a potential use case. The function generator could be used as the trigger to test the board/device. In both of these videos I use a function generator to test the circuit kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWewk4CVm8Rqi9E kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYPXmaCHitWHrrM

Informative. Thank you. I imagine that this FG has an option to retain the last settings used, instead of reverting to the default settings on power-up. It is likely a Utilities setting. Something reading like "Start Up/Default/Last." HTH.

thank you for your video! but when if i choose the high imopdance then how do i have the voltage in my bias T circuit if the current cannot flow through the cable(the generator coonect to my device with cable)?

Good presentation, i'm having to learn this particular peice of equipment, so it helps. Question for you: the O-Scope registered 996 Hz the output for generator was 1000 Hz. Would I adjust the freq on generator to make the read-out on the O-scope to be 1kHz in which case I would increase 4 Hz on the generator? also was just wondering when you run sync over the O-Scope will they be any kind of alarm when the freq's don't match?
@HTMWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, good questions - it is probably the scope that needs to be slightly adjusted and depending on what scope you are using a that type of variation may be normal. Also, make sure your probes are compensated correctly and then try a couple other measurements (maybe at a higher frequency and see what the scope reads). If you see a similar 4 hz off you know it s set point error. If you see a similiar percentage error it could be a limitation of the scope or something with the generator. I'lll be honest I have not sued the sync in a while so I don't know that one off the top of my head. But as for an alarm - I don't think the scopes/generators I use have an alarm feature.

how to sweep amplitude,,, not freq

? Not sure what you mean on that one. Are you saying you want to know how to sweep the amplitude?

@@kaybhee6 I have not tried that with the function generator - however I don't think it does that. I think you would need to get a programmable power supply to do what you want to do.

Well no I was thinking you could use a DC programmable supply - then modify it using a converter - not sure how well it would work. Just an idea - Im sure something that can control frequency and voltage simultaneously would be expensive - but Im sure someone is selling them.

6:00 the MOST useful.......?? Which you may or may not use...???? Hahahaha How is it the most useful then?
@HTMWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Heh, yeah I should have been more clear on that. For the class that this video was intended for, they might not have needed to use the sweep function. But, outside of that curriculum, the sweep function is extremely useful for evaluating the frequency response of filters and whatnot.
