Now I am a senior graduating this semester with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. I started off college 5 years ago in a brand new language for me since I am from a non-English speaking country. It was very hard for me to follow through in class and I remember I made a grade of C in ALL the 4 classes I took my very first semester. I am so glad I found this channel when I had to take Calculus! I went from making a C in Pre-Calculus to passing Calculus I with an A+ ! All thanks to your videos as you are so fun, clear, engaging and most importantly, I could re-watch if I did not understand something you had said (language barrier here again). I just recommended your channel to a friend who is also starting college. Not sure if you will read this, but THANK YOU!!!! This is such an amazing work you did with this channel!

I'm sure that many students are very grateful for your effort and hard work needed to make these videos. I have 3 true/false questions to ask (check my answers). T/F. Every relation is a function (I think it is false) T/F. Every function is a relation (I think it is true) T/F. Every graph is a relation. (I think it is true) A relation is a set of ordered pairs. A function is a rule that assigns every element in the domain a unique element in the range. Thank you so much for these videos

Functions and relations are defined/introduced initially in pre algebra or algebra so kids will be in maybe 8th grade I think and definitely 9th grade. They are reviewed at the beginning of almost every math class after that though in algebra 2, and even in my Precalculus book. Most of my Pre Calc kids are 16 or 17....but it is...or should be a review by then.
@profrobbob11 жыл бұрын
All functions are relations but not all relations are functions:) While every graph may be a relation, if it passes the vertical line test we would call the graph a function. Thank you for watching and supporting my efforts:) I am pleased you find my videos helpful.

I am not sure I totally understand your question. You need an x to go along with the y value of -4. Like if the was another coordinate of (5,-4) I would just add a 5 in the x column and a -4 in the y and we would still be mapping a function. If the point (1,-4) was added then the x value of 1 would be mapped to -4 and 4 it we would now have a relation.
