To improve the gait can the test be used as a prognostic tool by making the patient do all the tasks repeatedly as a part of exercise regime?

Great question. As this test recreates the challenges to gait that most people will experience, it is a great tool to assist exercise prescription. We can use the activities within the test (if safe to do so) for repeated exercise, but it is probably better to prescribe a variety of exercises that encompass the challenges associated with each section of the test. This way, we address the patient's deficits, but allow for varied challenge to promote improved neuroplasticity ( doi.org/10.1093/brain/awr039 ).
