Somehow, and I don’t know how, I managed to pull it out of the bag, as I passed my FS Maths 🧮 Level 2 in April 2024 (literally 2 weeks before my 40th birthday so I can say I passed it before I got old. I passed at the second attempt, after initially failing in January. This despite all the disadvantages I had to endure as regards to my visual impairment which consequently meant I need larger font resources and a in-class scribe (to do my reading & writing for me), as well as emotional issues surrounding Maths as well. After initially failing, I was permitted to do my exam during the Easter holidays and I think having the quieter environment helped me (as well as being able to take breaks and the extra-time I was given) but I eventually passed and my certificate now takes pride of place alongside my GCSE English Grade C I attained in school. I know Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE Grade C, but I may consider doing the actually GCSE in the future if I feel I can do it. Videos like this and Math With Mr J also helped as, due to vision loss, in more a visual learner and her more from watching videos rather reading text, which can be a challenge for me.

Hey Simon I’ve got my exam coming up on July 2nd and I’ve been doing all the Edexcel paper walkthroughs to help me mark my own papers. The pass mark is usually 36 onwards and I’ve been achieving roughly 48/64 or even 52/64. All I have to do is break down those larger 6 mark questions as they can be a pain for my brain at times due to having a learning disability BUT I’ve defo improved massively with your videos following along and learning simpler ways to answer some structured questions so thank you 🤩

Question 3 of the non calculator isn't the answer 279/389 as its asking favourite cardio class not all the classes which would be 1000?

The wording of these questions is so important and can be misleading, but it is talking about everyone (1,000) and then only wants those who are both under 50 and cardio. If they wanted the probably that someone whose favourite class is cardio is under 50 then they would phrase the question something like, 'Of those who state cardio as their favourite class, what is the probability that they are aged under 50?'

I don’t understand for that question at 17:21. Shouldn’t they give you the measurements?

They sort of have. It's just they want to check you know how to use your ruler and read the measurements from it accurately.

Q5 I don't understand when you put circumference formula 2TTr = TTd?

To work out the area of the curved surface we can think of it as a big rectangle, which happens to have been curled to form a circle, and the length of the rectangle is the circumference of the circle. I've put both versions of the formula because different people remember it in different ways and want to show that either is fine, but in this instance it's easier with the second version because we have been given the diameter, rather than the radius.

It's just an alternative way of doing 24 divided by 4/3. I wrote it as 24/1 divided by 4/3, which is the same as 24/1 x 3/4, which you can multiply out to 72/4 which equals 18 days, the same as we get using the first method. But this is in the calculator section so you can just use that instead.

It sounds like you might have your fraction upside down, we want 24 ÷ 4/3 = 18, rather than 24 ÷ 3/4 = 32.

Hi is it paper for this year actually i bought a book fir foundation level thats look very difficult as there is alot of algebra and so many Angles do i neet to do all of them

This paper is functional skills level 2, if you've got a foundation book then that's for GCSE, which is different. So while some parts will be relevant, others, such as a lot of the algebra and more complex angles rules, won't be. So first of all, make sure whichever resources you use are appropriate for the qualification you're preparing for.

64, 16 in the Non-calculator and 48 in the Calculator section. And the pass mark is around 38 (approximately 60%).

At least 28% means 28% or more, so the answer is yes for Q8.

I think the answer for question 7 is 200g sugar

Rather than doing the full question I'll show you how you can check your answer, to see he can be more than 200g, and then how you can check my 320g answer. If we have 200g sugar, using the ratios given we would have 5/2 x 200 = 500g flour and 3/2 = 300g butter, which are both less than the 800g and 550g we have available. If instead we use 320g sugar we get, 5/2 x 320 = 800g flour and 3/2 x 320 = 480g butter. we could use more butter but we don't have any more flour so this must be the maximum amount of sugar that can be used to make the maximum number of biscuits. Hope this helps.
