It's not "knee extension." It's "leg extension." The joint does not extend.

There is knee extension….and hip extension. They are two different things!! Knee extension is perfectly explained in the video at the end.

Nice work! Does the vastus lateralis also perform hip flexion?

No - it doesn't cross the hip joint. Origin is the greater troch and other landmarks on the femur.
