As a woodturning beginner, I *really* appreciated you stating the lathe speed and the type and size of turning chisels you used. That little jamb chuck is a great idea; I'll finally be able to make the end of my openers nice and smooth. :)

Very nicely done William mate and quite a bit quicker of a method than the way I do them. I will be trying out your way the next time. Shay

Production made easy! This week I have “butterfly bush” wood to work with. The branches are perfect for this type of project. For end sanding, I chuck up a sanding disk on to the lathe and hold the handle up to it. Very fast to do all at one time, just changing the grit paper as needed.

Thanks very much Valerie I do use a sanding arbour sometimes, Never heard of butterfly bush before have fun turning it, Kind regards From Will 👍

@@William_Kenny Buddleia, about 120 different varieties. Common in temperate gardens because it is very low maintenance and attracts pollinators like butterflies. This bush was old enough to give me 4-5” diameter wood. Light colored, and fairly dense with very flaky bark.

Hi Will, cracking little project with lovely little openers. They look like great easy sellers for you. I'd call the colours of the openers gold, chrome, gunmetal & antique brass / bronze. Can I ask you William, I have Rutlands chucks, the P75 & the P100, with loads of their jaws. As they don't sell ' blank' chucks do you know if their jaws fit any other make of chuck ? Cheers mate 👍🏴
@William_Kenny3 ай бұрын
Cheers Jim thanks for watching mate I didn't explain the colours very well 🤣 Most of my chucks are record Power and nova so all the jaws are interchangeable, I only have one little Rutlands chuck so not sure if they suit and other chuck, Cheers From will 👍

I bet they will sell well, they are beautiful. Have you also made ring holders? I haven't done a craft fair, but I made a couple for friends and they were easy to do and enthusiastically received. I imagine they would sell quite well too.

Very nice, did you give any thought to using threaded inserts?
@William_Kenny3 ай бұрын
Cheers David I've never seen the kit with the inserts, Will 👍
@STMwoodturning3 ай бұрын
Nice quick project. Why don’t you put a little glue on the threads before screwing them into the handle?
@William_Kenny3 ай бұрын
Thanks Stewart, they are pretty well tight in there but a little glue wouldn't do any harm, Cheers From will 👍

Hi will , very nice job 👍 but looking on Amazon the ones I see seem like the tread is only bout an 1” , do you have a link or point me in the right direction ( brand name etc) cheers Jeff ( spiderspid)
