Pretty is the right word for that beautiful little bowl. I do like to watch you work Will. Have a great weekend with your family. Regards Ray

Very cool..... AND profitable! I've been using one-off technique to make various kitchen tools from some downed Olive trees (commercial orchards being replaced with ???) You make the lathe 1 into 2 method look so easy! Your modded chuck to carve the bowls is pure genius, nice lathing tip! Carry on.....

... and even better that it is a bowl from 'the last little bit', which is always a bonus piece! Great job.

Gorgeous! I'm so jealous. I'm trying a wood and resin bowl at the moment, and I have decided I don't like resin. Seeing you create a beautiful bowl from a branch made it even more clear to me! I shall finish this thing and go back to just wood. Thanks for sharing and making me want to go back out to the workshop.
@William_Kenny17 сағат бұрын
Thanks very much Rachel, I recently bought equipment for doing resin projects but haven't had time to get anything done with it, other than a few pen blanks, getting back to woodturning you don't need a lot of wood to turn beautiful little bowls as shown in the video, I always throw little bits into a bucket for what I call scrap wood projects, Happy and safe turning, Will 👍

Lovely little bowl. My experience has found that many of the most lovely bowls come from small off cuts that we would normally toss in the fire or skip. Nicely done!

That is a big old lump Will. Never worked with ceder before but I love working with pine, carpentry wise. Once I'm up, running & sorted with my turning I reckon that pine will be used a lot as will larch. Is larch any good for turning ? Thanks again, Jim 👍🏴
@William_Kenny22 сағат бұрын
Cheers buddy thanks for popping in, Cedar is beautiful wood, it cuts really nice but a pain to sand, but worth the effort, I have turned large bowls from pine, and they look great, especially if the piece has a few knots in, I've only used larch for spindle work, and it's great to work with also, Cheers From Will 👍

Thanks William. Always happy to take your advice when I ask for it & you kindly offer it up. Is there anyway I can send you off one of my stickers ? I'd need your contact / email to sort & arrange it though if you don't mind providing it. Understandable if you don't like putting that out there though. 👍🏴

@@William_Kenny I have made one ( I made one the day I saw this video😂). I had a bit of cherry that I used and it turned out very well. My finial is a little bulky, but overall I am happy with it. Last night I actually used the same technique to start on a 6 sided lidded box. i have the flutes turned and sanded and that came out nicely as well. Thanks again for the inspiration and instruction!
