“... in its capacity to tranform the societies’ awareness”, declares Juan Carlos Mestre to explain his poetic creations. For Mestre, poetry is a means for refuting nonconformity, and words are made to construct the “house of the truth” in that he imagines “a reality that only exists in language”. Accompanied by images and symbols by Mallarmé, Lezama Lima, Juan Larrea, Jorge Oteiza and Nicanor Parra, among others, and by the accordeon and Oriental instruments, the poet recites and comments on a selection of his poems, including “Cavalo Morto” (Cavalo Morto es un lugar que existe en un poema de Lèdo Ivo.), “Antepasados” (Ancestors), “El adepto” (The Adept) and the unpublished poem “Miró”, which begins: las patatas enterradas en un lienzo de joan miró / se convierten en pájaros escondidos bajo la lana en el fondo de un tambor (the potatoes buried in a canvas by Joan Miró / become birds hidden under the fleece at the bottom of a drum).
