Funding Up 31%! 🤯 Kickstarter Reports Trends in Comics Crowdfunding

So, I wonder what it would look like if marvel or DC started using Kickstarter, and maybe started paying the creative teams better? My dream shifted from working for marvel to self publishing years ago, but it's an interesting thought, especially if it brought a ton of new backers in that were also funding indie projects

So far, it seems like Marvel and DC have limited crowdfunding to collabs with licensors. (for example the Marvel United: Multiverse game launch with CMON.) But with virtually every other comic publisher bringing crowdfunding into the fold in some format, I would not be shocked if we saw the big two play in these waters. Would that trickle down to the creative teams? Hard to say. I do know there are successful Kickstarter creators out there who pay better than average rates to their talent thanks to the increased margins a hit a Kickstarter book can do.

@@ComixLaunch I kinda think they're more interested in leveraging the IP at this point, when DC laid off 1/3 of the editorial staff that's not exactly a signal that they're super interested in doing comics
