I have every single issue of the magazine, going back to the first issue #1 (April 1977). It looked interesting and different then so I bought it, and then every subsequent issue until they stopped sending them a few years ago. I’m very happy to learn that you guys have resurrected this amazing magazine. I look forward to getting the second issue #1.

I'm sure you have a ton of talent lined up for this, but I'm wondering if you'll have submission guidelines for other hopefuls out there. I'm part of a large community of artists in Hawaii, and I know a few folks that would be ideal for Heavy Metal stories.

Back when I was a kid going into high-school my mom would drop me off in town and leave me for the weekend to stay at friends so she could go nail some dudes at whatever bar she was going to. Sometimes I wasn't able to stay with friends so I found a cozy spot in the town antique store. The store had everything but in a little corner in the back they had stacks of Heavy Metal. I probably read every mag twice. Then when I was old enough to work i bought them all. Short few years after that my mother confessed she put all my belongings in storage and lost the storage because she didnt pay and went into rehab because of her drug habits. Thankfully she had a stroke that left her paralyzed. Clipped those wings a bit too late.

I’m 24 and stumbled across the Heavy Metal movies (a year ago, not knowing the magazines) loved the art style and the feel and discovered the kickstarter last month. I was so excited to learn that there were more stories and that it was coming back. So shut up and take my money!

Back in the late 70's I believe, in one of our little local towns, mom let us get whatever comic book we wanted. She would let us read whatever we wanted save for porn. I was probably 12-13 and grabbed a Heavy Metal because it looked cool. The clerk said nothing nor did mom. I remember looking through it in the back of the station wagon and how shocked I was with the illustrations of naked people. I quietly put it away until I got home. As a girl, it completely peaked my curiosity, especially with Den full frontal and all. It was probably my first exposure to anything close to, shall I say, porn....lol. I look forward to a bit of Nostalgia now at 60 yrs of age.

Great stories with gore and tiddies is what made it great in its heyday. When it drifted away from that towards the end is when people stopped buying it and they went under.

Marcus hit the nail on the head at @ 38:00. In a comic, you can do anything your imagination can dream up! Brian K Vaughn described creating Saga as a project to help him break out of the mental constraints he felt that he was working under in TV and film. He said he was purposefully trying to make Saga so fantastic and crazy it could NEVER be made into a movie!

What are your thoughts on Kickstarter-exclusive freebies with regards to late pledges? I am planning to open pre-orders on my website straight after the Kickstarter ends, so KS-exclusive freebies won't apply to my shop pre-orders. But should Late Pledges be able to get those KS-exclusive freebies too? or I guess like you suggested I could leave Late Pledges open for 2 weeks only then they can still be eligible for the exclusive freebies and I'll only open pre-orders on my website after this has closed.
